  • Sims freeplay. Haven’t used it for a long time but it sure asks for a LOT of money for a free game 😂

  • Stretching is your best bet. It’s so essential, especially later in life. Also look into omega 3 and 6.

  • Default by Atoms for Peace. I was recently reminded of how good that song is, hadn’t listened for years 😃 (am a big Radiohead fan, but tend to forget side projects)

  • The only way to build towards a dream like that is two things, imho

    1. Save money. Take high paying jobs you may not like much to just save up.
    2. Learn. Read books on gardening, on simple living, on maintaining and restoring a home, and watch YouTubers who live the life you want to live and see the downsides of it too. (For the latter, Tyler and Todd might be a good fit, they are building a container home in the middle of the woods and they do show the setbacks as well as the triumphs)
  • Same here. Diptic is wonderful.

  • This could be me. I first really fell in love in my thirties. Before that I had book boyfriends. Characters who I related to because of how they were written.

I didn’t know what aromantic/asexual was at the time, but they both fit me. I’m now married to a man who is my best friend and who accepts me as I am.

And being aro/ace doesn’t mean that I don’t have feelings. I do. I just have no idea whatsoever on how to express them and still feel like me, I guess?

Ps tried to add the image to the post but can’t attach anything even if reducing the image to 39kb 😂

  • oh my gosh, this was one of the most exciting finals of the past years.

  • This will be a slow ride until the last 10k! I bet evenepoel is going for that one too 😂

  • I love that JV was finally riding to keep Kuss in red!

  • I think this one is for the people who are still in the breakaway after the San Lorenzo. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Evenepoel take this one.

  • I’m right there with you. If I were Kuss, I would sign for another team because at JV he will always be just a domestique, apparently. That’s what Jonas and Primos told him today with their actions. They could have worked for him as he has worked for them so so often.

And then Jonas said in an interview that he hoped Kuss would win the Vuelta. Actions speak louder than words, dude!

  • Not surprised by it. He’s in the depiction of the phrase: let’s try again tomorrow. Such mental strength for one so young!

  • Team Sky came close when they had Wiggins and Froome, but in the end Wiggins was top. A predecessor of JV once named Mollema, ten Dam and… Gesink? as their GC guys. They did a n interview about it and it was so awkward

  • It will be interesting to see what JV will do. They can’t expect Kuss to play the supporting role while he’s that much ahead, no?

I think that Evenepoel will go for a breakaway if he has the legs today. He’s so much behind now…

Beforehand, I picked today for Wout Poels in the vuelta game I do, no real reason other than he likes tough stages and I want a Dutch win.

  • What a race! Will post more tomorrow to avoid spoilers. Such a wonderful and emotional post race interview.

    Xfce appreciation post

There is a place for graphically gorgeous distro’s, but when it comes to ease and speed, Xfce is just the best for me.

I started using Xfce when Xubuntu first came out and I switched to Linux Mint Xfce when that started. I did try other distro’s when others recommended them, but always switched back to Xfce.

I have an old Eeepc that runs so smoothly on the latest Mint Xfce despite being a senior in computer years.

And that’s why it was about time I gushed about Xfce on here 😀

  • I see you shiver with antici…..

    pation

And as this post sorely misses classic romcom:

    • I’m just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her
    • Don't you love New York in the fall? It makes me wanna buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address. On the other hand, this not knowing has its charms.
    • peeeeeecaaaaaaaaaan piiiiiiieeeeeee
  • Me neither! And I mean it’s a world tour race! I’ve seen continental races that were better organised than this.

It’s amazing that there were not that many injuries because everyone had to adjust the speed.

Favourites are so far behind because of this too. And I know that there will be stages to catch up but it’s not a fair race this way.

  • Evenepoel was rightfully angry. I can’t imagine what it must have been like for the teams, barely able to see where they were going!

  • Came here to answer PTerry too. I cherish his books (going to re-read them all again soon). I love the way he gave the fantasy genre an unadulterated joy. His books are the only ones that can make me cry with laughter, even on trains where I try to behave 😀 Also, he’s the only author who made me want to read footnotes 😂

The world got a little darker when he died.

    winner arrived on the Tourmalet

I have thoroughly enjoyed the TDFF this week! Such a foggy Tourmalet.

Will write more later, don’t want to spoil anything yet.

Final stage tomorrow, a time trial!

What are your decluttering plans for August?

It's nearly August so I thought I would put up a post!

I'm still working on my July plans, waylaid by my health issues, but I want to make plans for August to keep the momentum going.

What are your plans for August?

I will post mine in the comments.

    on quality

When I grew up, I wore home made clothes created with the best natural fabrics my parents had available.

Then I grew up and almost exclusively bought new clothes. The thing is, most of them barely lasted a season.

After many years of discarding clothes, I went back to my childhood ways, buying clothes made with organic cotton, wool or linen. Spending a little more on clothes that now stay with me for years, not a season.

I do keep out of season clothes separate from my wardrobe so every season it feels like I have new clothes I’ve just bought.

Lately my quest for quality branched out to my office supplies. I only buy what I know will last me, so no throwaway pens and crappy paper notebooks.

In my major office declutter, I let go of so many crappy notebooks and pens. It made my heart ache to see all that bad paper and plastic go to the thrift store, knowing that most might end up in recycling.

In what area can you focus on more quality vs stuff that starts to break down when

my decluttering to do list for this week

    1. Get all the already decluttered stuff out of the house.
    2. Clear my desk (aka how does it get so messy in the first place)
    3. add art supplies to shelf
    4. Sort/declutter last bookshelf I need to go through
    5. File admin stuff and do the tasks

I also need to make it an evening routine to clear my desk before I leave my office, but that’s not something I will be able to do in a week

Where will you declutter this month?

I intend to work in my office/home library. I started to declutter there last month, but it needs some more work. Well. A lot of work.

I may post a to do list for this next week :)
