  • Yeah, I've got to say though, I've learned a ton fucking around and going through the issues I've gone through. Having to learn how to describe certain issues and knowing where to describe them is pretty huge when searching for technical stuff so that's a plus.

  • Lmao that's how I feel about it. I want to say that rollback isn't the easiest thing, I've tried to boot further down the tree at one point when discord broke (my only rpm install) and immediately got some errors regarding dependencies, so I had to remove it and reinstall it and it seemed fine after that.

I've honestly been thinking about rolling either Debian Ubuntu or arch, but I'm not in a place where I want to fuck with it all again currently.

Edit: I do appreciate you looking out though

  • ITS ALL BEEN TERRIFYING FOR A VERY LONG TIME. IF YOURE JUST NOW ACKNOWLEDING HOW THIS CAN AFFECT YOU, WELCOME, BUT YOURE LATE, THIS AFFECTS EVERYONE, MAYBE NOT RIGHT NOW MAYBE NEXT WEEK, BUT I PROMISE, IF YOU ARE NOT A BILLIONAIRE YOURE ABOUT TO GET FUCKED OVER.

  • My advice is to never contact this person again. A lot of this is probably stemming from their own insecurities, but whatever the cause, you don't talk to people like that. I don't give a shit what you look like, if you talk this way, you're the ugliest person in the room easily.

Keep your head up and try to not let someone else maliciousness get you down too much.

  • Likely. I guess I should clear up what I'm trying to get at, companies that large and monopolistic spend immense amount of resources doing everything they can to stifle competition because it's profitable to do so. They made the move knowingly approaching if not downright crossing the line, because their analysis showed them it would turn out to be profitable. Will we be fined? Probably not. If we do, can we afford it and still turn a profit?

Is there a resource I can look at for choosing in instance?

Something similar I had in mind is the site ballot ready, you are asked questions about stances/what's important and it boils down which candidates align with that.

I know this couldn't possibly be the exact same thing but something that just helps decision making would be cool to see.

What really separates a PC from a server? Mainly the hardware, but I guess software too.

In title, can elaborate if needed.

Edit: thanks everyone, I ended up deciding on an m920q for the server.

    Plasma 6 Blur Window effect

I've seen some really cool looking desktop effects related to blurring windows on plasma 5, they look really good, but I just can't seem to find solid info on how to replicate it in plasma 6.

I've tried downloading and installing quite a bit and researched the issue a long while before coming to this.

Does anyone have some solid info regarding this that you can link below? I'm running Bazzite 41 and can give further info if needed as well as a reference point for what effect I'm trying to achieve.

I'm looking for info/article on a CASIO mod I saw a few months back.

I remember seeing that someone designed and was reselling a PCB that fit in a regular ol Casio digital case, and it did a bunch of cool stuff. I cannot find it and was hoping I could get some fellow watch nerds on the case.

Please help out if you can, and thanks in advance.

    Movies @lemmy.world

Can we just talk about how Speak No Evil was one of the highest rated yet worst movies we've ever seen?

It's anger porn and bad decisions all the way through, just absolutely agonizing to watch. Who the fuck rated this positively? They even had the very much repeated "oh no almost got hit by a semi" trope. How many bad decisions can you make coupled with lack of self preservation for your own life and especially your child's? Fuck right off with this

From Windows to about 6 recommended distros for gaming.

I am not bad with computers and have a beginner+, maybe intermediate level knowledge of Linux and I kept running into some problems here and there with different distros. Most claimed to work out of the box (which may be the case for some users, but I have a shit ass Nvidia 1060 and that was not at all the case, until I installed Nobara KDE/Nvidia.

Just came here to potentially save someone time, this shit is actually working out of the box, closest experience to this was with Arch, but that's definitely not out of the box.

I have a question I need to ask but I want to do it privately as the topic it correlates to is pretty taboo. Please comment or dm me, and I'll dm you back.

    Raspi/Debian Bookworm OS help

Hey fellas, I noticed a lot of people will install/boot headless versions of this software on raspi to conserve resources. If I go through installing what I need to install via the GUI/Terminal, will I have any issues when I'm finished turning on the boot to CLI? I assume this won't affect the background process too much (unless of course something I install needs a GUI.)

Along with that, will I still be conserving the same amount of resources as if I ran headless to begin with. Running x64 Bookworm on raspi 4 (8gb) if that matters, and have a general self-hosting setup.

    Thanks in advance!
