Massive Attack - Angel (1998)

From their album Mezzanine

  • There's a barrier of entry to linux for sure BUT it really depends on the distro.

The issue I think is "marketing". I'm sure most of these computer agnostic folks would be fine using Linux Mint or Ubuntu but to someone who doesn't understand these things, just the fact that there's a choice to make there is probably barrier enough.

If we lower the barrier of entry for installation and choice for them, the decision to switch becomes way easier, I think.

    1. Carney was briefly a consultant during Covid. Not a decision maker, not constantly advising Trudeau
    2. Population growth greatly stalled during and after covid. Immigration actually helped cover for that.
    3. The state of the housing market has nothing to do with immigration and those who want you to believe it has wants you to be mad at a scapegoat so that you won't look at the real issues.

You keep posting links that you think prove your point but they really don't.

Do I think Carney is the best Canada deserves? Absolutely not

Do I think he's the man that's gonna keep our country afloat during this trade war and stand up to the orange buffoon? Absolutely.

  • Same, in January, I said something to the line of traitors used to be publicly hanged, now they're elected and got banned for it. That was the last straw, came here right away and was happy to find the place striving compared to last time I tried it.

  • We use our TV extensively. I much prefer watching shows or movies on it, we watch Hockey and Football (Soccer). We play games on it.

Sure we all have tablets and it permits us to do things away from the big screen but our TV is the communal screen.

Hell, I'm currently looking into buying a used tv for. my bedroom because I don't like holding my tablet to watch a show in bed.

  • And every other mapping source out there that currently still labels it Gulf of Mexico will eventually change it to Gulf of America because that's what it is recognized by the federal government.

The US government doesn't control map charts for the world. The Gulf of Mexico is International water, the US only controls a part of it. Even then, that executive order didn't have that kind of power in itself, google is gladly enabling this shit because it's in their best interest to stay as close to the other oligarchs.

And its not just this, if you think people are De-googling just because they made that change, you're not looking at the big picture.

Do you actually believe that Google has not been providing data to the government since the beginning?

I knew it was happening to some extent but the impact it had on my life was minimal... Now the US government is at war with people like me, it is simply normal that I yeet anything that's linked to those efforts and that I stop using services from mega corporations that will work with Trump to make all of his insane agenda come true.

You act like people are overreacting but the truth is we should have done this years ago.

Plus I'm not from the US so at this point and with Google being so close to Trump I trust them as much as I trust Tencent with my data, which is to say not at all.

  • Because if Google agrees to that kind of petty shit, you better know they're gonna give your data and position to the government without a blink. De-googling yourself is just common sense at this point.

  • Because supporting the US economy from outside of it right now is ludicrous and Amazon is a union busting mega corporation that destroy local economies...

Now, I'm not a Kobo corporate shill, I don't care which device you get, I did say there are other ereaders you can get, pick whatever you want. You don't care about thr trade wars, you can get a Nook or Remarkable. You care but don't like Kobo? You can buy an Onyx or another Chinese brand. You can use your phone, an old tablet whatever you want.

Personally, I've never not found a book on kobo but if it happened and it wasn't at my library, I'd find alternative to buying on amazon, I'd get it physical or find other ways to get it.

You want to continue using amazon products and contribute to the success of Bezos and his billionaire friends, that's your prerogative but a lot of us are not ready to do that for the sole sake of minor convenience.
