  • I read an interesting article on that a while ago, unfortunately I can’t to find it anymore rn. If I remember correctly, it stated cats don’t think of humans as kittens (or generally as cats) but are able to recognize us as a different species. At the same time, they apparently still consider us part of their colony and in the wild cats care for their offspring together, so one part goes hunting while the others look after the kittens. Same happens when cats bring us „gifts“. (Might be misremembering stuff and can’t check how trustworthy the article was, so take it with a big grain of salt, I’d be happy to get educated by someone more knowledgeable)

  • That’s how umlauts historically evolved, but nowadays I wouldn‘t say ü short for ue, but its own letter (even though you still can write it as ue if you don’t have it available on your keyboard or whatever)

  • My guess would be that the word „lying“ implies the intent to claim something untrue, which is hard to prove (not saying this isn’t the case here), opposed to „falsely claiming“ which includes situations where you actually believe what you’re saying even though it’s objectively false.

  • Not a scientist nor native English speaker myself, so I’m wondering: shouldn’t that technically say „hypothesis + evidence“ instead of „theory + evidence“? Which is of course nitpicky (if I’m even correct) in the context of a tumblr post, but I’m still curious

  • So it’s immoral to force your will on a cat regarding their diet when they themselves would choose different is immoral but forcing your will on cows/pigs by killing them even though they would choose to live is not?

Cats, like humans, need certain nutrients (macro and micro), they don’t need that nutrients from a specific source. Of course a healthy vegan diet needs effort and monitoring to ensure sufficient intake of these nutrients, but it’s certainly possible, both for humans and cats.

  • Wikipedia: „Lemmy (social network) - Open source social media software“

Also: „Social media are interactive technologies that facilitate the creation, sharing and aggregation of content (such as ideas, interests, and other forms of expression) amongst virtual communities and networks.“ How does Lemmy not fit that description?
