  • The commie stuff I'm smoking is just a fetish, a substitute for the lack that constitutes the human condition. You're trying to fill the void with your disavowal, but the void remains, and that's what's driving your desire

  • I admit I chose poor wording to ask, but I promise I had no intentions of casting shade or shame of any kind.

you've got me itching to try it again. It's been nearly a decade since I tried it, but I remember enjoying haskell. I just ran into headaches with updates. Almost certainly user error, but I remember cabal or ghcup breaking with an update attempt so I moved on to focus on i3. If I use extreme caution on setup, you think I can get a stable/reliably long-term xmonad environment?

  • Woah woah put the fangs away, it's not worth it. I'm an idiot but thought xmonad was very fun, I just ran into issues maintaining it. This is why I was scared from trying nix os, I'm superb at breaking things unintentionally. I am genuinely curious to know what makes you passionate about xmonad comrade

How (reasonable is it to try) to start a tech career for a privacy-respecting entity?

I only have warehouse mgmt work experience(which means all IT responsibilities fall on me), but I can't keep away from various programming projects.

I've only dipped into the privacy-sphere of software in the last 2 years, but I've found a earnest passion in my pursuits. My obsessiveness has bled into most friends asking why I haven't pivoted my career, and I don't have a good answer other than I assumed there's no money to be made in it since I never finished my college CS degree.

I will code and continue my projects regardless, but was hoping this community could offer some advice or there experiences with similar endeavors. Thanks
