  • It's my minimum. It's usually been fine in the past. I've gone from a beta to full release and been fine. But the last few years ya, I try to wait at least a week, up to about a month. I do have other PCs or VMs I'll test a bit more with before pulling the trigger on my main machine.

  • Ive had this issue for a while tbh. Though it usually takes closer to an hour+ to start. I've tried just about every graphic option in game. Several variations of proton/protonGE. It seemed like it didn't start for me until a few months back or so. It was something that just started happened Ng overnight. So ya ya might be right or partially.

My issue is a bit worse, as the entire game goes choppy. Almost feels like a mem leak of some kind but system resources are normal. Sapphire 7800xt fwiw

  • Same, buts been several years now. Att fiber. Don't use their modem either (except post power outage to establish coms back then I remove it.) I do use a ddyns service just in case. But it's been the same ip for years

  • Ya...some devices are seemingly straight hostile for doing this. Combined with Dells insistence on shipping PCs with a wonky "raid" mode for it's single drive. Just mess. UEFI/secure boot etc...

  • The paradigm has changed. The rift between PC and smart phone. Is it really a surprise? My 18yr step kid can at least type on a keyboard with proficiency. Beyond that and installing games in steam, he's lost outside of that. Both I and his mom work in IT. We try to shore up the gaps, but it seems the 'kid' actively refuses to learn.

  • Not to mention iso booting from a disc....just works. Too many times I've tried booting various USB images only to have it fail for unknown reasons, the host machine has this weird quirk of not able to boot from a 3.0 port or...idk

    This is fine...

Trying to create an image of my servers OS drive. After 24+ hrs it was still going, and at smaller and smaller speeds.

Luckily the real data is on another healthy drive. Just sucks to lose configs and such. It was a setup that started off as a learning experiment that ended up in 'production' at the house.

    Mildly Infuriating @lemmy.world

I can't blame the customer here. Ya, that's the USB in the Ethernet port.
