Res Publica Non Dominatur!

I'm just this guy, y'know?

In your interwebs, janitorializing things up and keeping the porns online.

  • Do yourself a huge favor... Find a copy of the Spicediver Redux edit.

It's an amazing job of re-editing and splicing in cleaned up deleted footage.

  • I'd turn the sound on for that one

  • Ok, but that doesn't work on hardware raid. Regardless, his drive has already failed remapping and it's dying.

I use ZFS too. That's not the issue.

This is pointless since the op asked about single drive and the numbers show it's failing. Pending means stuck, and uncorrected means it won't get any better.

In this case , they shouldn't trust the disk with anything they care about. That's it.

  • Calling it bullshit is funny.

Just because it might be working for you, the reliability of the drive under load is compromised.

This literally means there's data changes awaiting a new replacement chunk to be allocated after a region deemed unstable. If this number doesn't return to zero I a timely fashion, it means there's data changes unwritten.

If you run a raid, expect issues from any drives with pending sectors.

This is from experience managing statistics on dozens of data centers... Not sure what ShortNotes use case is, but my priority on a storage device is data integrity.

  • Current pending sectors....

    No good.

If that number stays anything not 0, that means it's toast. Can't rely on it.

Turn it into a clock or Frisbee.

  • Yeah but that's not what I interpreted it as. OP might be using either I suppose.

Personally, hardware raid irritates me since recovery scenarios are harder to recover from without $$$. I've had more luck with mdraid recovery than several vendors of hardware raid.

I do think BTRFS is cool, but like at things there's caveats.

  • Surprise! It's the same person before and after their transition!

  • BTRFS

    RAID5

    Wat....

If you NEED uptime, use mdraid or ZFS.

BTRFS and RAID5 is NOT production ready.

  • Capitalism and "AI": Revolutionizing ways to get fucked in the ass literally, metaphorically, financially, spiritually and climatically.

Bloody hell, can't y'all just let gay people shag?!

They just have to smear their bullshit all over anything good.

  • Cool ranch flavor

  • At least for me it destroys image quality and calls are terribly over compressed, audio is painful to me. That's explicitly why I stopped using it as a default and am looking for others.

I'm glad you find it good at least, as it's better than crap like Facebook Messenger, but I can't stand it as they run it now.

  • Name the apps please, I'd like alternatives that don't overly compress my media or calls, restrict the type file files I send or the size.

Seriously. I'm low on options here, and I loathe systems that mess with my stuff without my asking it to.

  • it's Python. It's foss.

I've removed code I didn't want in mine. (A feature I later re enabled).

If I want to add code, I do so. Or I remove code.

Microsoft is closed, and they are leveraging tons of cash to manipulate. Try turning off updates on a windows 11 machine... Is it just a toggle? What if Microsoft removes the option or requires.. oh wait closed source and they already did.

All piefed has been doing is giving options.

Blame admins if you like but be honest about your intentions instead of this campism.

Masto and other fedi services give options of blanket blocks or filters, so arguing entire concept of fedi is nonsense.

  • Then why was it referred to as Mac os X 10, Mac os X 10.1, Mac os X 10.5 etc?

Dept of redundancy Dept I guess?

    There are many more examples.

  • I see you are a person of refinement and taste.

  • The X in MacOS X is not a Roman numeral.

    It's the X from NeXT.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NeXT_Computer

The original Mac software had an emulator to run when OS X came out, but NeXTStep was a different system entirely and not just an iteration on the same OS.

    Cute comic though.

  • I was thinking just print solid black boxes.. Kill that toner cartridge.

Not like they're clever enough to know the difference.

  • Turn over the rolls, but it's all redacted

  • Summit @lemmy.world

Piefed v1.2.x appears to have broken API support
