  • Cool is an elastic thing. Sometimes it means popular. Sometimes it means wonderfully quirky. (I'm thinking of 11th Doctor's descriptions of his unusual sartorial choices.)

Kids like to fit in with their peers, so cool to them probably means what everyone else is into. I didn't like lounge music when I was a kid because it was of my parents' generation. I didn't like opera when I was a kid because I had little exposure to it, so it was weird. Happily, my tastes have broadened. I regret it didn't happen sooner.

Star Trek has become classic (except, maybe, Enterprise) for good reason. That's enough. They snagged James Darren at the end of DS9. Great. Some kids didn't get Vic Fontaine at first blush? Too bad. Try again. The best art requires a little effort.

Also, when you love something, your enthusiasm pulls in others. If they reject it because it's not popular, fuck 'em. Wonderfully quirky people are so much more interesting than people who fit in.

    upload connectivity

Hello, lovelies. QBT was working well in both directions. Now it isn't. The little fire icon at the bottom of the screen is always on. I've downloaded, but peer connections don't seem to be working. I've been all over the internet trying to troubleshoot, to no avail. I posted on Reddit, but then the exodus happened. 1.) It's not the firewall (Bitdefender). There's a rule in place. Also, I turned off the firewall, and nothing changed. I tried enabling port scanning. Nothing changed. 2.) I went to Nord's advice page https://support.nordvpn.com/Connectivity/Proxy/1087802472/Proxy-setup-on-qBittorrent.htm
and followed their directions, screenshot attached.

Part of their instructions include going to ipleak.net and using ipleak's magnet link. Nord says addresses are supposed to match. They didn't. Here are screenshots. I tried different servers. I tried a P2P server. 3.) In the absence o

    H flag

Using only 1 public tracker. DHT enabled in options. Question: if public trackers don't use DHT, where do peers with H flag come from?
