  • Unfortunately for Floridians there are definitely open pit mines in Fla.

  • This would have been an interesting addition to Get Shorty.

  • Fediverse.com is available for sale

  • Very true! The whole domain squatting thing is pretty bizarre to me.

  • Fediverse.com is available for sale

  • The .org seems to require a log in. I wonder what entity has these domains. I imagine the folks working to manifest the fediverse don't have the capacity to buy up all the possible domains.

  • There used to be something called Conversation Exchange that was useful for for supplementation, but it was a pretty big jump from what I would get from Duolingo to speaking with someone there.

  • What alternatives are there to Duolingo?

  • This is frustrating to read. I used Duolingo over ten years ago, and was going to use it again to get back into some things, but now what? It seems that it is not what I remember it being. I only used it on a computer, and probably would now.

  • I am not sure about fashion, but I have found that repairing clothing is pretty cheap. Even if you pay a tailor to do so. Maybe patches can be fashionable but I just don't want my toe to catch that little knee hole and create a problem.

  • Is it realistic, or practical, for Wikipedia to register in a similar manner in another country?

  • My Mom's cat, who I found dumped almost 20 years ago and fed by hand but now only tolerates non-Mom entities, does this to me when I visit. Even when he has food...

  • Haha this is the first thing I thought of. I didn't know what kind of bird she was tho. FilmCow is great.

  • Hmmm

  • This looks exactly like one of the birds from Shadowstone Park.

  • hmmm

  • Maybe it wants some grapes.

  • I really like savory oatmeal, and I mostly do it with fish and fennel. Great meal any time of day.

  • Another vote for the cheese and jam! Sweet and salty. I like it in a tortilla.

  • Wow this is amazing. I had a bad attitude about this when it came out and for a long time after because "I didn't work in an office." By 2015 I knew I made a mistake and now I will watch, probably tonight

    Graphene Permissions Question

I recently installed graphene on a new to me phone. I am attempting to use a product called SMS Backup and Restore to more some things over from my old phone, but cannot do so because it needs to be set as a default app and my phone denies that. Warning photo attached.

I poked around in Matrix but didn't see any mention of this but am pretty unfamiliar with how to use Matrix.

Any graphene users have advice? It seems like it must be so simple and the graphene and other forums mention using this software. I have allowed all visible permissions for now, and all seeming relevant ones for the google support programs.

Hanging Out on Another Dry Day

We're in like fourth spring here right now so a little bit of dry and warm is pretty nice!

    What is this thing? @lemmy.world

    What is this critter?

I think it could be an isopod but am unsure. It doesn't look like ones I am familiar with in houses (usually basements, which is not where this is).

It is about 10mm or 3/8" long, seems to move towards the top of the picture (but mostly is just wiggly), and is slightly hairy. Western USA.

    Can I Just Reinstall F-Droid?

F-Droid has been giving me some issues for a few days (that I've noticed). It crashes immediately upon opening. Sometimes I will see it open for less than one second before it crashes, but usually it just goes right to a crash submittal screen. I want to reinstall it, but am unsure how to handle all my apps. Will it just pick them back up? I don't really know how to troubleshoot this, I am open to alternative paths!
