  • Idk when did i miss the transition from critique of capitalism to getting intimate with kim jong un

  • Thats so fucking cool man, My PE periods in highschool where essentially free for all with a few basketballs and cricket bats.. do whatever you can with those haha, or even worse theory classes from books that havent been revised since god knows when and include a shit ton of misinformation

  • Thats the thing where I live (india), good luck getting anything used from somewhere like OLX without being scammed or even killed lmao.. the only way to do it is if you know someone else personally willing to sell.. also unlike ebay or smthng the pre owned cameras arent very cheap anyway.. they still sell decade old cameras atp like panasonic mfts at like 75% of their original price, it requires a lot of effort to get anything done here.. unless ofc you have lots of money to throw

  • Cool, not related to SCA heavy combat particularly but i think it would be so cool and useful if we were taught some sort of martial arts in schools..

  • I never knew of it, seems like a pretty fun thing to do..

  • Thanks a lot, that sounds really peaceful actually, i will look into it once i actually get free from the academic insanity 😅

  • Yep i can absolutely still take atleast according to my definition hehe decent pics with my phone in quite a few conditions.. like the one i attached in the original post, however in most cases the biggest problem is tbh is being stuck with essentially a very small focal range.. there are a lot of cases i feel i could take a good pic if i just had a better telephoto lens, but manufacturers seem to always prioritize ultra wide lenses..

Edit: like this completely random one i found kinda cool haha

  • I am not sure what u mean by “care” but as someone who grew up isolated music has always been my best friend.. or to be more accurate the best coping mechanism haha, you can coast through your moods and twists and turns of your life much better when you have a song to match your innerstate, idk but its like a way to validate ur internal emotions (which can get intense) in a safe way, nothing better than screaming “so give me reasonnn, to prove me wrong” after feeling betrayed🫣

  • Such a shameless strawman, tell when did i imply that the air was amazing when the other government was in power?

  • Peoples satisfaction isnt a metric of democracy, are a lot of people happy with chinas government? Maybe, minorities certainly arent tho But the reason its undemocratic is that there isnt really anything to challenge the CCP or its policies, and dissent is punished and censored, people have historically been happy under monarchs, but doesnt make them democratic..

  • I dont think even you would agree that china is democratic tho.. not to say the west are perfect democracies, and the data u provided reflects people thoughts.. the china one raises some questions..

  • Thanks for ur perspective, i think they r fair points, but you are giving up a lot of personal liberty and freedom of expression if you are OK with systems of something like PRC, but i suppose that can be classified as a choice However I think that the censorship that goes around such countries also makes it harder for us to know anything other than for example China might want to show us, we dont really have much idea of how internal dynamics work there and if u choose to believe personal testimonies its not pretty…

  • Lemmy politics i find a bit confusing and maybe i dont understand it very well but all forms of black and white communism /marxism-leninism always seemed to have lead to totalitarian states.. like correct me if wrong, its fair and completely normal to say that whatever the west amd especially countries like USA an UK are bullshit and need to dismantled atleast large parts of it.. but i dont understand why they jump instantly to models of china and Russia.. like i said maybe i dont understand it well enough..

  • The cloud seeding was just a government stunt, they were already told it wasnt going to work by IIT professors themselves but they went ahead and wasted 3.2cr of tax money cuz why not? It also would only last a few days anyway as the core causes of pollution remain unaddressed

The government itself straight up denies and even allowed things like firecrackers which made the AQI get even worse than it normally wud (not saying firecrackers are the main cause, but it definitely made it much worse), the gov denies its even an issue and is busy campaigning while the citizens they rule over are having insane problems with reports suggesting everyhousehold suffers from some sort of an issue directly attributed to air pollution

India post 2014 tbh is just a great example of how to cosplay as a democracy just enough that the world doesnt raise an eyebrow but at home minorities (and mind you its not just muslims, it includes christians and even lower caste hindus) continuously harrassed and the income gap becoming wider than under the british rule..

  • All good except the part “new delhi was trying”, nopes they are not, they r just spraying water on aqi sensors and beating up protestors, thats what happens when u elects fascist religious fanatics to run the capital of one of the most complex countries in the world..

  • You have ascended the mortal plane by then

  • Amendments welcome! I suppose those who argue in universities are even smaller brained… They should appreciate the impartial unbiased and thoroughly investigated academic rigor of youtube comments!

  • Its about the same as i remember it being like 2.5 yrs ago tbh, which is actually a good thing.. it still feels very community like unlike reddit in which the amount of activity is just so insane that you cant really participate on major subreddits, and the amount of bots are just insane….

I think what happened with lemmy is that during the whole reddit API saga a lot of people were furious and hurried to any platform they found good, and specifically in lemmy.. it started getting popular with a particular type of demographic which u see popular today, however there was also some courtesy and acceptance that was lost, there was a lot of “holier than thou” attitude going around which is actually a big part of the reason why i nuked my old and quite active account here (which i regret tbh coz i did have some very good discussions), but i think that ended up alienating a lot of people that might have chosen lemmy over alternatives during that time

As of now it seems pretty fine tho, the voices do seem a bit more varied or atleast nuanced, but people just no longer are rushing to quit reddit now, and the base seems stable, the upvotes comments i see now r the same i used to see 1.5 years ago..

  • Been trying that but it doesnt work for me :( any guidance appreciated
