  • Yesterday I was thinking about this, it is like authorities don't give a fuck about piracy until someone local complains about it. Years ago it was about the music but it turns out is wasn't the musicians who were complaining, it was the society in charge of collecting and distributing the money between the copyright holders (sgae), those were corrupt as fuck and after a couple scandals I haven't heard about them much.

  • I totally get the tech savvy feeling. There's usually too much information and options. With email it is easier to say "pick one at random, they are all the same". Lemmy seems very different at first, you see a big list of instances, each one with it's descriptions, some of them stating ideals and visions, it feels like a more important choice than what it is.

All this even before reading anything about defederation!

Most people needs that first choice made for them and figure thing out once inside.

  • That's exactly it. In meat production, if you have to sacrifice the entire stock because of flu, in six weeks you're back in busines.

For a hen to lay eggs it needs to reach maturity, that takes at least 20 weeks.

  • Dried onion rings in sugar.

When I have a cough I make onion syrup by laying a sliced onion on a platter, covering it in copious amounts of sugar and then collecting the resulting liquid.

One time, after collecting the liquid, I forgot about it. A couple days later it had hardened and completely dried up. It was like candies!

I tried to re-ink an old ribbon

I was interested in making my own ink so I can have any colour I want.
I dissolved some oil paint in machine oil, in my first tries I used universal machine oil but it was too thick, so I tried sewing machine oil that was much thinner. That worked much better but it was still a bit too thick so I was having some trouble "making it run" along the ribbon, so I used lighter fluid as a thinner. It worked great.
I eyeballed everything so I can't give proportions of the ingredients, in a future more serious attempt I plan to take some measurements.

It's been a month and still hasn't dried on the ribbon and types well.

    Down sides:
I still haven't found a good method for putting the ink on the ribbon, I put a pair of gloves and use my fingers so it gets a bit messy and it is slow.
The other down side was that didn't take into account that there was old ink on the ribbon that darkened my brown ink so much that looks mostly black.

    Oil paint
    Thin machine oil
    Lighter fluid

I'm puzzled at the What's New tab

At the top of the What's New tab there's the first line stating the last time the feed was updated.

I've been seeing for quite some time now an extra line there saying "Not loaded: 1". My guess is that one of the subscribed channels doesn't exists anymore. If that is correct, is there a way to know what channel is other than trying one by one?

If it something else, please, what is it? I won't loose sleep but it is bugging me enough to post about it after not being capable of googling (or duckducking) the answer.
