  • But your users have the problem that they go to the wrong site if someone on a mobile device shares a link when you’re on desktop.

It just seems inconsistent for them to detect mobile devices but not desktop devices.

  • They already do this to redirect from the desktop view to the mobile view so they could do it the other way but don’t for some reason.

If a user changes their user agent to something that would cause a site to not be able to determine whether they are on desktop or mobile then they can expect that some sites aren’t going to work well.

  • For instance you can monitor when the compressor shuts off and use the plug to shut off the entire unit, then power it on when the room temperature rises to a set point.

That seems like you’re just replicating what the AC’s thermostat is doing. You’d only be saving the stand by power which doesn’t seem like it’ll be a huge saving to me.

  • I used to be a contractor and was sometimes bad at processing timesheets and invoices.

I had one occasion where I had (numbers made up because it was ages ago) £100 in the business bank account with no overdraft facility when a £150 payment went out.

The payment went out putting me overdrawn. They waited a day before deciding that I wasn’t allowed an overdraft and putting the money back.

During that 24 hour period a payment for £25 was processed and blocked because I was overdrawn.

They then charged me two fees for refusing the payments even though I had money for the second one in the bank.

I switched banks right after that.

    Problems with Zigbee2mqtt

I run HA in Docker and I have set up Mosquito MQTT and Zigbee2mqtt in other containers.

I can add Zigbee devices into Zigbee2mqtt and they automatically turn up in the MQTT integration. The problem is that they usually don’t have the control entities in HA. This means that I can’t activate switches by clicking on them in HA.

Everything else seems to work. I can turn the devices on and off in Zigbee2mqtt and I can do the same from Node Red (running in another container) with the Zigbee2mqtt plugin.

Has anyone else seen this problem?

I found something in GitHub about it but the comments said that it was fixed in the next version but I have a later version than that but it’s still not working.

All the news on his speech seems to be about HS2 but I think that this is important too.
