  • Oh boy. Another thing where I am happy to live in germany. No soft-planned things here. If there is a possible appointment (and we pretty much always do appointments to meet each other) we say yes, no, or don't know yet. Only yes classifies as planned. I know that in most other countries in the world this is not the case. I feel like germany is a very autism friendly country compared to most others when it comes to such ambiguous situations I read about online.

    Gloves for extraction with Phenol-Chloroform

    Hi everyone.

I need to do extractions with Phenol-Chloroform and just realized that my current gloves are absolutely not suitable for both chemicals. I did research for hours for the best gloves for that task.

Here in the lab they have "touchNtuff" from Ansell for extractions. I searched everywhere if they are also resistant against Phenol, because the Ansell page does not say. Regarding to fisher science they are not. Oops.

I found "microflex 93-260 chemical resistant gloves". Phenol takes more than 30 Minutes to penetrate those - and Chloroform 3 Minutes (which is a pretty good time in comparison).

Does anyone of you know even better disposable gloves that are resistant against Phenol-Chloroform?

Technicians in academia: If you do the lab work for a paper, are you a co-author or are you only mentioned in acknowledgements?

I know this can differ from group to group. What are your experiences there?
