  • Google used to be the ultimate engine 15 years ago. Now it's the same 5 sites and 10 ads over and over.

  • Ill have to check and see if thats in the TUI installer too. TY

  • I'll get on it as soon as I finish this job

So I guess "blatant" is the type.

  • Maybe we should only elect people who are under 50 from now on.

  • That kinda makes sense but I never would have found it on my own.

  • https://www.slax.org/ It's easy, is a full featured desktop, and has persistence on your USB stick.

  • Debian, sudo, at least when ever I install it without a desktop.

edit: I'm dumb af, it tells you right in the installer, I just never read it

  • The Debian LXC containers ship without nano, the normal (net/dvd/cd) install have nano.

  • There are some communities that never transitioned to Lemmy, so I'll be using them untill old.reddit is disabled.

  • This is my favorite way to deal with management.

So you want me to disable a safety feature to help speed up production?

  • I once had a 200" Sony CRT projector. It had a grid of at least 20 trimpots for adjusting the picture on each of the tubes (RGB) and after 45min to an hour of warming up and tweaking it was an unbelievable picture. Then a 300v DC rail shorted to some logic level stuff and it caught fire :(

  • I leeched when I was on limited bandwidth now I am the sole peer for about a dozen hard to find torrents. Balance in all things.

  • I don't know the standard but if Google is involved you know they are going to be pushing people to use their own 'extensions' of the standard to lock both the hosts and users into their ecosystem. It's the same thing as Microsoft's ActiveX making sites IE only in the early 2000s.

  • The sites are broken, FireFox doesn't break them. They make the choice to use non-standard features.

  • I run Deb testing, in the spring a change in Pipewire broke sleep/suspend for me, the upgrade came along with 100 other package upgrades. It took FOREVER to roll back just the right packages to the point where everything worked again, 0/10 would not recommend.

  • It was spelled out more clearly in the comics. They even trained human minds to do tasks that the machines could not/did not want to do.

  • So do I, it just hurts sometimes.

Being logged out on refresh, Firefox

I am experiencing weird behavior on both lemmy.ml and lemmy.ca where refreshing, or closing and reopening my browser, will cause me to be logged out. This seems to be an issue with my browser, Firefox 102.13 on Debian Bookworm, but it does not happen with any other sites with logins. I have tried clearing cookies and site data but nothing changed. I have also tried with Chromium and the problem does not occur so this is related to Firefox or some setting within.

If any one has experienced the same or has an idea what setting might be causing this I'd love to hear from you.

    Regardless, thanks for the platform!

edit: Just to fuck with me, after a week of consistent "refresh -> logout" the behaviour is no longer reproducible. Still being logged out if I refresh or close/open the browser. The internet is cruel, laughs at you when you are naked, but you keep coming back for more, and more! Why? Because she is the only prostitute I can afford.

Namecheap ups its prices 9% for .com and .xyz this fall.

Having just jumped from Google to Nameheap this is more than mildly frustrating.

edit: apparently this is the result of Verisign putting up their wholesale prices

    Beat the Meatles, Cartoon Sushi

Some how I had never heard the joke "Beat the Meatles" before yesterday when I was watching Cartoon Sushi and today I see this community. Baader–Meinhof? Regardless the short is worth tracking down for it's punny song titles like "I want to hold your gland."

Are you a kid? Does your microwave oven belong to your parents? If so, then don't even THINK about trying any of these experiments.

A fantastic list of RF demonstrations you should never do with your own microwave oven!
