  • Lemmy seems to be anti-AI, at least from my impression, but I am hopeful that AI will help invigorate the open source software world. If people can code better, faster, cheaper, safer (more secure) that will surely apply to open source as well. AI coding tools could bring on the Linux mainstream revolution. Imagine thousands of autonomous agents refining software for Linux. There could be a glut of driver support, apps coming to Linux, and so much more. I am hopeful about it.

New N.S. regulation allows retail cannabis sales on Mi'kmaw First Nations

The provincial government has introduced a new regulation to allow Mi’kmaw communities to open legal cannabis retail stores on reserve by agreement with the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation (NSLC).

“We’ve spoken with Mi’kmaw leaders across the province, and they have raised concerns about the sale of illegal cannabis in their communities,” Environment and Climate Change Minister Timothy Halman said in a news release on behalf of Finance and Treasury Board Minister John Lohr.

“These changes will allow bands to open a legal store for those who wish to buy and use cannabis.”

The new regulations will allow a band, or a band-owned corporation, to become an authorized seller within their community through an agreement with NSLC to set up a legal retail store.

Any cannabis stores in Mi’kmaw communities will sell cannabis purchased through the NSLC.

The NSLC is currently the only authorized cannabis seller in Nova Scotia.

There is an on-reserve NSLC location in Eskasoni that sells cannabis

  • Yes, he's so orange, I can see him being painted with Cheetos flavored Cheetos!!

  • From that, to 1 TB on a microSD the size of a fingernail. Impressive!

  • I remember reading about the 'first' 8-core CPU by AMD around 2012. My how times have changed. I'm now rocking a 16-core CPU!

Also, computers are so much better and more reliable than 20 years ago. Remember how frustrating they used to be compared to now??

  • I'm back to report my findings. I covered over the light with electrical tape, but I hit a problem. Now my remote control doesn't work.

They've combined the IR sensor with the LED that flashes when there is no internet connection present. The clever bastards clearly thought of this ahead of time.

    This is malicious design.

  • You're right. Might as well do it. Stop letting them harvest my data. I just hope there isn't some sort of persistent pop up or anything annoying.

  • I've heard that the commercial display panels are more expensive, because they're geared towards enterprise use.

  • I've been working out at home, but I'm considering joining a gym as well. I'm glad you were able to do it!

  • We are the ones with 'invisible illnesses'. They are every bit as real as a physical disability, or other organs/body systems not working.

You don't tell someone to 'man up' when they have diabetes, so why say it to someone who has a mood disorder?

I feel your pain! Sometimes I feel like I'm 'unworthy' of being helped. I try to remind myself that it's not my fault my brain doesn't work right, and there are tons of people out there who have no issue helping people like me, like us.

  • I would abolish toilets without bidets. You would be legally required to have a bidet in all bathrooms, private and public. Worldwide!

  • I think of a Lemmy account on an instance the same as an email address: it doesn't really matter which one you pick. Pick one that works best for you. Yes, you are beholden to the instance, but it's the same with Gmail, Outlook, GMX, etc. They can close your account at any time, but they likely won't.

Of course it does matter a bit what instance you pick: you want one that is well-federated with other communities that will have content/users you will enjoy engaging with. I'm pretty sure you can visit a list on each instance that shows what instances it is federated with.

  • Is measles going to become a large problem again? Because it sounds like it is.

We often share news with each other, but never a single "new"

It just occurred to me that we always refer to news in the plural sense. Even if we're just telling somebody one thing that happened, it's always "news". Makes me wonder if, in the past, there was ever a convention of referring to news in the singular sense.
