I'm not sure whether this is entirely true or rather whether this is true for the more casual MMO player. You are describing the traditional Until Death Do Us Part way of playing MMOs. But GW2's (mostly) lack of vertical progression makes it really easy to return to the game after taking a break or playing something else (another MMO, e. g. GW3), without feeling that you have missed out on a lot.
By the way, this is one of the things I do not like about the new daily system (wizard vault), because it kinda discourages playing something else or taking a break, unless you are able to ...

I mean, it's possible that they are currently doing all the refactoring and cleanup that has been neglected in previosu years. This would also explain, why they are not able to produce more content at the moment (and why it's so costly). If this is actually the case, then there might be light at the end of the tunnel, i. e. future additions to the game might become less complicated and less likely to produce bugs/regressions.
Also, why would GW3 lead to players abandoning the franchise? This is not what happened with GW2, or did it? I always thought that a lot of former GW1 players are now playing GW2 and some maybe even still play GW1.
My theory is that whatever ArenaNet had in the working during IBS was not good/finished enough or too far off from the current francise that NCSoft pulled the plug and "condemned" ArenaNet to continue releasing content for GW2 (with a much smaller development team on a code base which is increasingly hard to maintain).
Yep, that's what I'm saying all along. The GW2 code has become a nightmare to maintain and ArenaNet desperately wanted to start from scratch with a new game (not sure that it actually was GW3), but they weren't allowed by NCSoft.
Our current team size is roughly what it was during the development of Living World Season 4 and about 15% larger than it was at the release of End of Dragons in 2022.
From our experiences with Secrets of the Obscure alone, we’ve adjusted development schedules, review processes, dev resource allocations, documentation and communication practices, and more. All of these contribute, to some degree, to improving the quality of what we deliver.
TL;DR: The code is already a proper mess, We are now inflating administrative overhead to further decrease efficiency. Our goal is for every new line of code to produce at least one new bug and involve at least 100 members of staff.
Can't remember and probably by accident, because it's a travel hub I avoid, because it removes the Jade Bot Offensive/Defensive Protocol Buffs and Battery Charges I usually stack on my open world characters.
Yeah, it would really help, if the people selecting those tasks would play their own game. The old daily system was the reason, why I tried out WvW afterall as a non-PvPer. I used to be there pretty much every day at least for the dailies and sometimes a lot longer, e. g. if I bumped into a friendly squad. I'm still a pretty terrible WvW player, but I learned a lot about a game mode I otherwise wouldn't know at all.
I also wish there was more variety and that the tasks were more balanced effort-wise, e. g. Spirit Vestibule is an extreme outlier in the daily category.
Last but not least I wish that Anet would stop treating Events like Quests/Tasks. The old daily system did that, too. And even worse, they abused them again for the New Hero Jump Start. I can not overstate, how much I hate this. I want to bump into events by accident and not (desperately) look for them.
When I play Engineer, I usually have exactly one Engineering Kit equipped as a Utility Skill and I basically (want to) use this Kit as my 2nd Weapon Set.
This works pretty well, but has the downside that the Weapon Swap Key only swaps from kit back to weapons but not to the kit (how would it know?) and when I press it (accidentally) while not/no longer in combat it swaps to my other actual weapon set.
So I had the idea to bind the key I'm normally using for weapon swap. i. e. ^ (caret) on my QWERTZ keyboard, to the 3rd utility slot which is where I normally place the kit skill.
Perfect ... Exactly what I wanted for my Engineer:
The weapon swap key now alternates between current weapon set and kit
I can no longer accidentally swap to my other weapon set
But since GW2 does not support per-character keybindings, I would need to rebind keys again whenever I play a different (normal) profession.
Still fixing the November 7th bugs which are immediately affecting new content. Not to mention collateral damage to existing content like the Birthday Cake or the Jade Bot Buffs which have already been hit by the Halloween patch. The game seems to be falling apart.
With the worst being task collections which have to be completed in order, e. g. Frode's Journal which even forces you to do/repeat the 3 SotO metas in a specific order or it doesn't count,
Yep, I'm probably one of those fans. Though I also very much like the team-play aspect that usually comes with (instanced) group content. What I would like are random encounters you'd find in open world (possibly instanced) which would require encourage people to spontaneously group up as a team of max. 5 to beat it.
Similar to Dungeoneering in RuneScape, but with occurances/entrances randomly spread out over the open world, using your current gear scaled to the level of the encounter, difficulty/rewards scaled to the number of people in the group and the overall theme based on the current zone.
My interpretation is that the support team is overwhelmed by the amount of bugs that the content teams are releasing into the world on a now (new release schedule) even more regular basis.
My suggestion (to you) is that you unblock as many of those morons as you can handle by having a thick(er) skin.
I think that GW2 already lost it's way/innocence very early on when ArenaNet listened to a vocal minority of players who wanted WoW-like progression and instanced content ... which lead to Fractals and Ascended Gear with Agony Infusions and later with HoT even to Raids.
I mean, there's nothing wrong with people enjoying this type of content. I hear that WoW is very much alive and -- according to MightyTeapot -- Mythic+ is even better than Fractals. Funny enough, he also says that he is playing WoW as an Instance Simulator (and not as an MMO).
What I fiind kinda sad is that ArenaNet didn't have the balls (or chance?) to stick with their original vision of what an MMO should be like and instead tried to be more like WoW.
EoD release (2022-02-28) was in Q1 2022 and sales didn't significantly increase before Q2 2022. Similar to PoF (2017-09-22) where it also took until the next quarter (Q4 2017) for sales to really pick up (almost 35K million). So maybe there is hope, i. e. how many people did you tell that they should buy SotO after you have pla
Choosing the Bolt or Quip starter kits currently results in no items being received. This has been confirmed as a bug. It is suggested that players do not select a kit until this is resolved.
... since this will prevent LFG from showing that the Commander's map is full.
Moving yourself (Commander) to a separate subgroup was once used to help others to find the player whose map they should join. But this is no longer needed, since
Today I made some progress (5 Tier 3 Rifts) by joining a commander in Amnytas who was using Rare Motivations to track and open Tier 3 Rifts. Then I joined a squad in Sandswept Isles doing the same thing, but I wasn't making any more progress towards the task while the commander (who was using the motivations) apparently did. Though I received Tier 3 Essences from the event itself, i. e. not (only) from weekly reward chests.
Also, Sandswept Isles did not work for the Rift Hunt Vault Daily Task (a day or two ago) and there is a [merged] bug thread on the forums about various Rift Hunt Reward Issues.
That's the content we want, not hunting stupid demons for months and months. On the other hand ... in RPGs this is the kind of content the community typically provides via mods.
Despite of mixed feedback on the forums it's pretty clear that this (kind of) armor will make ArenaNet a decent chunk of money. Well played!
This is what I hear in my head each time I play the Skywatch Archipelago Meta or rather visit the location of the final event, when it's not currently running.
I know it's entirely my own fault, but I somehow feel I have to get the weekly rift hunts and weekly vault tasks done, before moving on to things I actually like to do in the game.
I see a lot of guides popping up which suggest that Rift Hunting is a good method of making gold in the game, but I completely fail to understand this. IMHO it's terribly boring and does not even have a good gold/hour ratio.
My understanding is that the main reason for doing Rifts is to get those Essences which you will need for the new Legendary PvE Armor, i. e. you do the Weekly Rift Hunting Achievements which give you a decent amount of additional higher level Essences (even from Tier 1 Rifts) and that's it.
... from which you could choose the actual eqipped sets. This would allow for one
Equipment Template for Power with all power weapons (stats) and one for Conditions or Support with all condition/support weapons (stats) and it would solve the weapon swapping issues with Legendary Weapons.
Basically Equipment Templates would have multiple weapon loadout variants. But I assume ArenaNet is more interested in selling us full Equipment Templates, even when those are merely used to store weapon set variants.
Just having 4 additional slots for a passive set would already go a long way. Assuming of course that moving legendary weapons between the active and the passive set would not remove their customization and upgrades.
Which weapon skin did you choose using the Black Lion Weapons Voucher?
Which skin/mount/... was randomly unlocked by using the Knife Tail Gang Hunting Bond?
I chose the Elegant Fan Focus Skin for my Elementalist (despite Warhorn being the offhand of chocie for pretty much all builds at the moment) and got the Equinox Staff Skin from the Knife Tail Gang member.
