  • Tampopo, an 80s japanese movie about a woman attempting to become a great ramen cook, and more generally humans and their connection to food.

    Funny, loose-thread (many small intermission stories), and feels to me like it spoofs or pays hommage to samurai and/or western movies.

  • Suicide squad (2018 2016) was a disaster and a tremendous letdown.

    Though that was clear by the time it actually hit cinemas, so more of a continuous descent from its first announcement to its actual release

  • That was last Jedi though, was it not? I never watched rise of Skywalker, the Luke story ended with him vanishing into the force at the end of last Jedi if I recall correctly.

  • For me it was the same back some years ago - paint.net was the software I probably missed the most. Between Pinta and Krita, I tend to find everything I need. Pinta is most similar to paint.net imo, quite a bit more basic, but the same toolkit and design philosophy I'd say.

  • Just rewatched "the kings speech" last evening.

    An impeccably well-made movie all around, and great performances. It does not really hit me on an emotional level, but I can appreciate the craftsmanship of everyone involved.

    Wonder what's going on with Tom Hooper and his track records... This, Danish girl, then Cats?
