  • People always talk about the learning curve and compromises, but Linux is finally in the "shit just works" stage, so it's not much different than the Mac/PC decision people make every day.

Heck, in a lot of ways it is more similar to Windows than Mac is, so it should be an easier decision. For some reason though, everyone still treats it like... Well... It would be like treating Windows like you still have to know DOS.

    That's just not true anymore.

  • Non immutable just means that your system isn't locked down to make sure you don't accidentally break something. Some people have a strong preference for it one way or another.

As to why it might help, every distro comes with a custom mix of software and tweaks. Bazzite is fedora based while Garuda is Arch based. Some things may work better or worse with less tweaking.

So if you are frustrated enough to consider something else and aren't committed to an immutable distro, it might be worth experimenting with.

  • I didn't get a Bambu printer because of the price or design, I got it because of its "just works" reputation, which it does.

Unless Qidi matches that ease, it isn't equivalent, and that's important to mention. Maybe it does?

And yeah, I don't love the recent changes, but that's only ideologically. Practically speaking it is still amazing.

  • I dunno, I use Garuda and it's an Arch distro. It's been super user friendly and I've only had to learn console stuff when I wanted to mess with stuff most casual users wouldn't be bothered with.

And maybe you would say, "well that's not really representative of a normal Arch install" but isn't that the point of different distros? That anyone can build on functionality to do something like make Arch more user friendly?

  • All the previous examples were things operated by humans: shovel, crane, even the robotic surgery.

I am sure we can teach AI to do some or all of these someday, but demanding an example for one of them as completely autonomous makes it seem like you aren't paying attention, aren't participating in the discussion in good faith, and are just fishing for a "gotcha!" moment.

That's why you are getting downvotes, in case you are curious.

If you do have a good faith argument, clarifying it might get people to listen to you and consider it.

  • We learn who we are and what we want by trying different things. If you aren't sure about something, try it. And it's ok to discuss it in advance to set guidelines or expectations if you need to.

The one thing that's non negotiable is respect. If you invest time in someone you don't really respect, eventually that time ends up wasted.

If you have trouble trusting, start small. Lay your head on her lap while you watch a movie or something.

  • None of what you say is wrong, but I will say that though my regular number is on permanent silence and straight to voicemail because of all the spam calls and texts, the Google voice number I have had for years has been largely free of all that BS and continues to work great.

Maybe they are tracking everything I do, but the product DOES work pretty great.

When are the other classes getting hoverboards?

With this year's guardian games coming to a close along with the hoverboard preview, I'll admit that it was nice to let warlocks keep theirs, but I wonder when they will be releasing them to the other classes?
