  • just specify that you're talking about the fashion industry, and avoid the discussion going sideways

  • Proably a cultural thing. I live in a place where we eat rice daily, and we just use a regular pot. Rice is literally one of the easiest and fastest things to cook, that we focus on optimizing other things. Also, rice cookers are expensive around here, take aditional space and feel like a consumerist thing.

But now that I've said this, does it make you feel unsettled about it?

  • Maybe you overestimate the popularity of the places you frequented? Or maybe people's memory simply isn't that good

  • What's the deal with rice cooker adoption?

  • Only after languages were institutionalized and formal education became more common, that the languages sort of stabilized and the rate of change became slower. Back then, languages were more "freestyle" and people sometimes didn't even properly understand each other

  • I wouldn't say weak, but lazy. People are literally willing to give power o oligarchs in exchange of a minor convenience. Also, most people don't even think about such things and just go with the flow. They use what "everyone else is using".

  • And they tend to grow in any place, including small spaces or cracks in the floor or walls. They spread through different methods and can quickly fill your yard, your street, your house, and everywhere else.

But they also grow a beautiful flower and attract hummingbirds

  • Let me present you this one:

  • But your neocortex brain can make you resist!

  • We got to give them due credit. They were spot on on the end result, but just missed on the cause leading to it lol

  • Makes sense. Do you know a more user-friendly alternative? Maybe something like bottles?

  • a few tips for you:

    • try open source software in windows too, like libreoffice, inkscape, etc, depending on your needs. It will help the transition to be easier
    • if you have a spare machine, try linux on that instead of dual booting, because windows tend to mess with the bootloader in dual boot
    • don't be harsh on yourself. It's normal to have difficulty to adapt to things. You can do that in steps as small as you feel comfortable with
    • try distros like linux mint, because they tend to be easier for new users
    • experiment wine or winboat for software you need from windows, if there aren't alternatives

  • PARENTS ARE NOT TEACHING KIDS

Unfortunately, it always has been like this for everything

    [Sad astronaut gun meme]

  • Some local news sites in my city show local ads that are simply static images loaded in their pages, mimicking traditional newspaper ads, without any kind of tracking. Although it's questionable at a philosophical level if ads can be ethical, I can live with it, and that method will pass automated adblockers, so it's a win-win.

  • Why they will only realize when their consumption is affected, or why it will be too late?

  • Are there any details on how it will be implemented? Will it affect older versions or just new/updated devices?

  • Judging by the amount of news headlines that I've passively read, Linux 7.0 is probably going to be HUGE

  • The average person will only realize that something is really changing when they have to drastically change their consumption habits, and it will be too late to something about it
