  • It's also kind of weird that Dale really, really looks like 1990s Gary Cole, but according to IMDB, Gary Cole only did a one episode guest spot on that show.

  • Isnโ€™t this double jeopardy then? Being charged twice separately for the same crime?

No. Legally speaking, double jeopardy isn't a provision against being charged multiple times for the same crime, it's a provision against being charged multiple times for the same crime by the same sovereign entity.

The federal government and the state government of New York are two different sovereign entities, so they can both prosecute him for the same or extremely similar charges for the same crime, and double jeopardy is not invoked.

  • Comes with a fresh glass of blue milk as well apparently. Paging Luke Skywalker!

  • Every time I read a sovcit passage like this, I feel like someone shrunk peak 1980's Mike Tyson down to a quarter inch tall, stuck him inside my skull, and he just spent the last fifteen minutes repeatedly clobbering my brain with power hooks and uppercuts.

  • I've noped out on entire office days before where I've been "digestively energetic" so to speak. I'm not putting myself or coworkers through that at the office.

  • We've definitely seen in the past that availabilities vary by region.

  • "It was the damndest thing. I called a ten minute recess to step out of the courtroom to go take a dump, and when I returned, the entire legal system had changed." - This judge I guess

  • There's some component in your docking setup (the dock or the TV) that's causing this. I regularly dock to a 1440p monitor and a 1080p projector with zero issues.

That being said, there are multiple docks out there (even the official one) that don't jibe with both the Deck and every display and thus give a subpar experience, as there are widespread reports of that. You kind of have to luck into the compatibility of both of those components, and even then there are also TVs out there that aren't really dock-happy with anything.

Try docking to someone else's TV next time you go visit someone, if it's fine then you know it's either your TV or your TV and dock not liking each other.

  • With jobs, it's just the job market right now. Companies aren't interested in keeping good relations with applicants. Expect to just never hear back on a significant number of your applications.

  • Never in the history of me sending thumb responses in work chats has it ever meant โ€œwhatever you say you fucking dumbass.โ€

It's primarily used to show acknowledgement. It's the office worker equivalent of "10-4."

Seems like you have some pretty serious projection issues to work out OP lol

  • This is what a pikachu looks like when it's sliding into home.

  • Well she's standing on the wrong side of the stove top where the gas lines and such go, so she already wasn't off to the best start here.

  • (The bird just happened to show up in every result. Idk why.)

Probably because a crapton of the training data came from versions of The Lion King and Kimba the White Lion, and a bird is hanging out with the baboon and ape characters in those? No idea for sure, just a guess.

  • Record scratch

"You might be wondering how I got here..."

  • I had no idea of the intentions, but history of the internet says there was maybe 1% chance of being pure and 99% chance of being something malicious, so I just ignored it, figuring it was a bot to dm everyone it could find on the platform.

  • This reads like something that Chat GPT would output, were it designed to always output the least likely word each time rather than the most likely.

  • If Microsoft doesn't 1) come at this from an angle of adjusting Windows into a great handheld experience, and 2) releasing this as an open platform PC, they're toast.

There are a handful of people who don't have a handheld currently who will blindly follow the branding, but I doubt a single person who is currently enjoying the openness of a Deck, Go, Ally, et cetera will voluntarily blunder back into a freedom-restricting walled garden of any sort.

  • I really do think itโ€™s a mass noun.

I'm not sure why you think that. By definition (which you even gave in your original post) that would mean that data are something that can't be broken down into individual, countable units.

But there is a smallest unit, which is called a bit. Data can be broken down into smaller, countable units. So the word doesn't fit the common definition of what a mass noun is.

  • I think you're confusing this due to the common incorrect use of "that" in relation to data as if it's something singular, id est, "Could you please provide me that data?"

Technically this is grammatically incorrect (and yes before you ask, I say "those data"), but I've come to understand that people actually mean "data set" when they say this, and are just omitting that word from the sentence.

Since that is all that's needed to have everything correctly agree again, I can just fix it in my head when I hear it so that my brain doesn't explode.

Nested Desktop: What it is, and how to set it up

So, I wanted to share some knowledge and awareness about Nested Desktop. What it is, and if you're interested, how to set it up.

What it is: Nested Desktop allows you to access Desktop Mode functionality while you're still in Gaming Mode / Gamescope, and acts like any other game you'd run from there.

Think of it as your "Desktop Mode emulator for Gaming Mode". It lets you access Desktop Mode files, apps, and functionality just like you were using Desktop Mode natively, WHILE you're already in another game using Gaming Mode (so for instance, you could pull up Nested Desktop to get easier web browser access to look up something for the game you're playing). It's also much faster than rebooting natively into Desktop Mode when you need to use it.

I use Nested Desktop all the time! I find it to be a handy tool to have access to.

Got Steam version Baldur's Gate 3 to launch, here's how (my issue: missing Windows Net Desktop runtime)

My steps, if anyone has to replicate. I'm not sure if everyone will start from here... it's possible that you already have the prerequisite installed from another game. But I'll give my fix path in case anyone starts from the same place I did.

For me, what I saw to start: When running, a brief spin, and then about ten seconds later, a change back to the green play button. Complete no-go.

    My fix path went:

    1. Started in Desktop mode, for maximum troubleshooting flexibility.
    2. Going to Manage > Properties, I changed BG III compatibility option to Proton Experimental.
    3. Tried relaunching game... this time, an error returned that I needed to run the game along with Windows Net Desktop runtime (.net 6.0.20).

This error had its own link button, but in case you don't get the link or error, but still want to see if this is your fix, the [link took me here for the download](https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/thank-you/runtime-desktop-6.0.20-windows-x64-installer?ci

Is there a way to subscribe to a community but keep that community from showing up in your "subscribed" feed?

Asking as I recently subscribed to a community that is fed by a bot which posts pretty frequently.

I subscribed to be able to mark the community to find it when I want to, but it's now dominating my subscribed feed due to volume of posts. If I could keep this one specific community from showing up in the feed, that would be the preferred solution. Thanks!
