A majority government doesn’t guarantee stability beyond the surface, and if our own internal issues don’t also get sufficiently addressed, we’re only buying 4 years which may not be enough time to stem the flow of populism which a prolonged economic downturn with a continually faltering safety net is a perfect recipe for a conservative majority.
I doubt the American situation would be resolved within 4 years, but giving one party all the power could sow a lot more discontent amongst ourselves than a government losing support and triggering an early election which could be for the better (again, even with the American situation, a majority government wouldn’t guarantee anything other than buying 4 years which might not be what’s needed if things go past that timeframe)
I’d chime in that the minority government up until this election has finally gotten us dental care and the foundations for pharmacare, which weren’t delivered during the last Liberal majority.
I doubt increased public spending would help since that’ll play into their conservative base on how the federal government is trying to create a nanny state or something along those lines
The premiers didn’t want to take on Dental Care, and threw hissy fits when the federal funding was conditional on the provinces to follow through on covering dental care instead of just sitting on the funding allocation to claim a “surplus” .
Also, healthcare really should be more of a federal responsibility imo. There’s no reason why we can’t have a more central structure that the provinces could benefit from, especially when it comes to purchasing and negotiating power under 1 country vs all provinces and territories having to go alone currently.
Shark puffs
Basically my upbringing in a nutshell. Had a parent gaslight me on my own gender identity since early on in my childhood and even made assumptions on my own bodily needs (overfeeding when I’m complaining that I’m stuffed, while bringing out more food for me to eat. Also not believing that I have to go to the bathroom as often as I asked, leading to accidents that I’ve been punished over).
And then they wonder why I barely talk
I believe the problem with children-oriented sites and communities were that the spaces provided a false sense of security for children and parents which led to at least the social spaces being prime targets for predators.
While these communities would have strict moderation as well, I think there were some cases where some community moderators were abusing their position which can happen in any social spaces, but children’s spaces are held to a much higher level of scrutiny for obvious reasons.
Then there’s the issue of scaling and regulations. As Internet usage continued to explode, it would’ve become much harder to scale up the amount of mods needed, which becomes much more expensive when it’s a full time job. Then I believe a good number of large/influential countries also moved in on regulating how companies maintain data for child accounts and I think restricting targeted advertising for children specifically, which would have made it much harder for companies to make money while also dealing with increasing expenses in moderation and hosting upkeep.
It doesnt explain everything completely, but I think that’s why these places disappeared
I’d see a new loophole where the landowners just demolish the buildings to claim the land as vacant instead.
Unfortunately, the land owners will always try to find some kind of loophole to try and squat on land and rent seem as much as possible, but taxing empty units is a good start
Sorry, we can only do with a 4th territory at best.
It’s even more difficult since the content has to be stored somewhere, and needs to be streamed which requires storage and processing power, with the latter needing to be able to scale so the user experience doesn’t get bogged down by new people joining.
The entire revenue model of compensating the host and content creator does require a rethink, but it’s hard to see how that could be done without paywalling access to host, view, and/or both of the above.
Huh, well TIL! That context probably makes sense unless there’s a different contextual meaning available

Boofing rule

I stole it off a homestarrunner crapposting group, dont ask me what boofing is cuz I don’t know either 🤷♀️
This is such a lovely pic, i feel like it’s sorta really relatable and comfy too.
The bottom shopping cart looks like the funnest one to use. Maybe if I have free time (and space), I’d love to make a larger version
Going out for dinner and/or drinks, street festivals/special events that take over part of an area, which are more social activities rather than leisurely.
There has always been some sort of a premium involved, and anything “free” is seriously overcrowded.
I’ve made the move from the big city to a smaller one and it’s been much less stressful, with cheaper rent being very enticing as well.
While there is some degree of car dependency involved, there isn’t a lot of long drives needed to get anywhere, really, with traffic being much lighter than what I’m used to.
I doubt that rents will fall all that much outside of the big cities. Unfortunately, the cities have also become more of a playground for the wealthy, wealthy people in denial (children of homeowners that will receive assistance to join the property market), and a home for the unhoused and people in precarious living situations.
If you’re not in either ends of the social classes, there isn’t as much of an incentive to remain, since most leisurely activities and meeting areas are crowded, behind an expensive paywall (if not at the gate, then the activities themselves), or they’re outside the city anyways.
Finally, a universal care plan for the masses!
This feels soooo relatable :3
Amazing- I’m still watching through the MLP (G4) series and now I’m inclined to print and hang this up somewhere
Mileage may vary, but in my experience in attempting to get a line of credit, theres a lot more information that needs to be not only shared (for the banks and credit unions I’ve tried applying to, both and credit card statements for the last 3 months needed to be shared, along with a written explanation on what I’d need a line of credit for).
The barrier to approval is rather high as well, especially if you don’t have any assets to provide as collateral (for a secured line of credit at least.)
It’s doubly a challenge if you don’t have a “good enough” net worth as well which if you’re out of school and had to take out student loans, then you’re already starting out with negative net worth.
In comparison, I was blanketly approved for multiple credit cards and all I had to provide was the necessary identifying information and a salary.
It sounds like I’m shooting down the option of getting a line of credit, but it can be a very difficult process to obtain one unless you can get a guarantor to co-sign, or you happen to be in a financially secured position to begin with, which isn’t the case for a lot of people, but still a very good option to attempt at getting.
That’s true, I did roll sushi right eventually! Though since I don’t make sushi often, the first (and sometimes second) roll turns out not good before the muscle memory kicks in.
I also Appreciate the tip, kind stranger!

First time posting here, hope I did it right
