  • Reminds me of a classmate who used to wear a trenchcoat, and had an old school telephone receiver in his pocket, attached to his smartphone via spiral cable.

  • I stand by my stance that war is the wrong answer to literally any issue, period. If pacifism is against the rules, I have no further interest in participating with whomever set those rules.

  • The UN already does that, too. It's called sanctioning. But in reality, even the "good guy" EU countries happily keep on buying Russian oil. It's just magically transformed into Indian oil first, by being loaded onto a different ship in an Indian harbor.

  • It's only there to produce the video.Everyone shown here, including the drivers, are acting. No one suggests implementing this for real.

  • Carry a closed umbrella and hold it out in front of you as you approach the crossing. This triggers the car brain's panic button, since it would scratch their paint if they hit it, which is much, much worse than endangering a human.

  • The fact that when you walk into a Rolex store, the dealer tells you which watch you can buy doesn't help either. So people buy from shady sites online, since Rolex won't even sell them the watch they want, before they've "established a relationship" (i.e. bought a watch they don't want) with their dealer.

  • I connect to your filing system on an emotional level.I use a sophisticated prioritized filing system.Top priority ("must deal with today") documents go in the pile on my desk. When that pile falls over onto my keyboard, it is (unread, of course) added to the pile on the floor next to my desk.Once every leap year, or when there's a full solar eclipse (whichever happens later), I go through the floor pile and throw out everything that isn't relevant anymore.

  • That's just plain wrong. Rolex is considered "entry level luxury" by the real big spenders. And basically every serious watch collector has at least one in their collections. For most, it's the first or second (after Omega) $$$$ watch they buy. It's also the biggest watch brand in the world, by revenue.

In my research I was unable to find any other brand that offers better quality for less money. There are plenty that offer better quality for more money, or very close to the same quality for much less, though.

  • I bookmark any site I find relevant with "search terms" as key words, so the site shows up as suggestion when I enter one of the terms in the search bar. It's like a self-curated local search engine for sites I find useful.

  • They're a great idea if you happen to own a company making AI, a company making rockets, and a company controlling public opinion.

  • The EU already exists.

  • Careful. A world police, if it is legitimized by the global public, might not look like you imagine it.These countries together would have the majority vote on policy (>50%):India (17.3%)China (17.2%)Pakistan (2.90%)Nigeria (2.70%)Russia (1.80%)DR Congo (1,40%)Ethiopia (1,40%)Egypt (1,30%)Vietnam (1,20%)Iran (1,10%)Turkey (1,00%)Sudan (0,60%)Shining beacons of democracy and human rights the lot of them.

  • There is no actual authoritative power over countries, except for firepower.Abolishing veto power will just lead to the major powers leaving the UN or ignoring it entirely, killing the institution.Besides, UN security council resolutions (the only thing where the veto power exists) are only a very, very small part of what the UN does. They aren't even the main purpose of the security council, which mainly exists to give nuclear armed countries a floor to speak to each other on neutral ground after all other diplomatic channels have broken down (i.e. when they're at war).

  • It was made a capital offence by law in 1602 by the Edo government.

Previous laws regarding murder didn't cover it?
