  • Agree. Nothing like driving through the gears manually. Or preparing a lower gear on advance, for an upcoming corner. Or feathering the clutch to keep the turbo engaged during a corner. Ahhh I love manual cars.

  • I'm mid 40s. A guy I've befriended is over 70.

One of the sharpest, clearest thinkers I've met in my life.

Your blanket statement is wrong. This guy makes people a quarter his age seem slow in their thought processes.

  • NSW campsites by memory were double QLD prices in places. It felt incredibly expensive. I don't recall fully, but man, in comparison to QLD it felt a bit of a rip.

They want to lift it even more now?

Any good cozy games that work with a controller on Android?

Wife has a retroid pocket 5.

She's 4 months into Stardew Valley.

She's ready for a new game.

    Any suggestions?

  • Absolutely. I had a stalker once. Was terrifying, and that sounds just like what they do.

  • I agree, that would have been fantastic. In my head, it looks absolutely beautiful and crazy

  • Got them in an actual Gummy bear store in Germany. Never seen them anywhere else.

  • Sorry, I understand now. That's a lot of money. I don't find that low priced. And I live in a very country. Australia.

Where do you come from, out of interest? If you don't mind.

  • They're important.

The libs and Labor are owned by the miners and the gambling industry.

We need to cut the income to the corrupt duopoly, and the threat of the greens is real

  • Don't let the Libs or Labor fool you that there's "not enough money".

We could have free school, university, full free healthcare, and more. We could have it tomorrow. The money IS there.

The miners are getting all of the wealth out of the ground and paying $0 tax.

The gas industry are not even paying to get the gas out of the ground, and they pay $0 tax.

    The reason?

The Libs and Labor get fat, over paid jobs as 'consultants' with the miners when they leave public office.

This is corruption in Australia. The libs and labor letting their mates take it all for free. Billions worth every year. Then the fat jobs await them.

Put them both last on the ballot. Fire their corrupt asses, and get the public money back from the miners, to fund a healthy and wealthy society.

    Where will my vote go?

    Hi Australia.

I'm planning on voting as is my duty and my privilege at the upcoming election.

I'm going to preface by saying that I don't want my votes to go to the Dark Lord or the Liberal Party or the liars in the Labour Party. They are both completely corrupt and I'm adamant that they need to feel some pain.

So then I want to look at the independents and consider what they do and what they don't do, and will they be truly representative, or are they just there scrambling for votes to get some money and power? Who can say?

So what I'd like to do to make sure the Liberals and Labour don't get my vote, is find some kind of flowchart, that shows if I vote for an independent or a smaller party, where does that preference go to, so that I don't feed the party that I don't want to get my vote in the end.

Is there any resource out there that can show me where the preferences get fed to, so I can make an informed choice.

I feel like this should be a legal obligation, that we are all gi

    Can we write lemmy bots?

I wrote a few useful utility bots back in the old days when reddit was a thing.

I just remembered them now, thinking it'd be useful to write a new one to help some of our art communities. (More on that latet)

Is there a bot framework, or similar for lemmy? Some docs? Some boilerplate code maybe? Just something I can sink into and learn.

    Thanks so much

Will this Lenovo Thinkpad (AMD) work well with linux, or should I go intel?

    Hi all,

We are purchasing a new laptop for a new employee.

We'll be booting directly into bios, changing settings as required, and installing linux immediately (either Fedora or POP).

However, we've only ever run intel machines.

Does anyone know if this could potentially cause any issues? We want a set and forget experience (have had that with intels).

Samsung microSD not showing in Linux

    Hi all,

I have an Intel NUC Skull Canyon. It's running POP_OS!

I purchase a microSD card, and it came with an SD Adaptor.

I've plugged it in, but nothing shows in files.

I have run lsusb, lspci, and even:

    sudo lsblk -o MODEL,NAME,FSTYPE,LABEL,MOUNTPOINT,SIZE

However it's just not showing up anywhere.

The microSD is brand new, and a model called:

    SAMSUNG 512 EVO Plus A2 V30.

I am not sure if the card is maybe so new, that linux can't see it yet? I doubt that.

I wonder if anyone has any ideas? I don't have another SD Adaptor, nor any other computer with an SD or microSD slot.

    Thanks so muchy

How to set up laptop for corporate usage, so contents can be erased.

Hi all, we are hiring a remote worker and will be supplying a laptop to them. The laptop will be running a Debian variant of Linux on it.

We are a small shop and this is the first time we have entrusted somebody outside of our small pool of trusted employees.

We have sensitive client data on the laptop that they need to access for their day-to-day work.

However, if something goes wrong, and they do the wrong thing, we want to be able to send out some kind of command or similar, that will completely lock, block, or wipe the sensitive data.

We don't want any form of spying or tracking. We are not interested in seeing how they use the computer, or any of the logs. We just want to be able to delete that data, or block access, if they don't return the laptop when they leave, or if they steal the laptop, or if they do the wrong thing.

What systems are in place in the world of Linux that could do this?

Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated? Thank you.
