Some samsung phones are this bad and sometimes even worse (A53, M55).
I'm guessing its a samsung optimization issue alongside using cheap parts. Chinese OEMs in the same price range use faster chips and Vapor cooling chamber for improved performance.
I too use droidify and unobtainium and have never received such pop-ups. I guess if it warns you there's the possibility the app is malicious or requests sensitive permissions.
6Yrs of updates, OneUI and the Exynos 1480 are good (A major upgrade over the 7 gen 1 which had heating issues) and the only things worth about this. But, let's not pretend this is going to compete against 6000/7000mah chinese smartphones with 80/120w super fast charging or IP69 durability.
If they had included an sdcard slot this could've been given a 2nd chance. But, they prlvide even less reasons to consider before.
Wait, I had to do a double take. I thought they were charging $200 extra for Fedora and Ubuntu. They could consider sending some money to those distros for development which would still be cheaper than buying windows.
I cannot access the private space feature in RealmeUI. Also, while multiple user can work for some apps. I want a general enough solution for all apps.
So, recently I read an article stating that apps can still access installed apps on your phone as long as they list the apps in their manifest or use intent based hacks. Unfortunately, the app I use to restrict permissions (App OPS) does not have any measure against this.
Is there anything that can be done from adb, etc to restrict an app's ability to view other apps?
The Motorola Edge 60 Fusion comes just in time - a year after its predecessor, the Edge 50 Fusion. The newer version arrives in the same slick design, but...

Pros
Lightweight, grippy and durable build with IP68/69 and MIL-STD-810H certifications.
Bright OLED panel with HDR10+ support.
Very loud and nice-sounding speakers.
Solid camera performance.
Dependable battery life, fast charging.
Hard-to-find connectivity features (SmartConnect), microSD card slot.
Cons
The chipset could be more powerful for the price.
Camera app can be laggy and unresponsive at times.
Ultrawide camera has focus-hunting issues during video recording.
Better compatibility(most every Linux command should work fine since the directory structure will be same unlike termux) and high number of apps. Also, unlike proot it will have better performance and run faster since its native emulation.
Samsung A series were the last hope. Now, that they are dead – and stuck on 256gb. Your only options are portable SSD/micosdcard with type C support, buying a phone with 512gb/1TB storage.
Honestly, the A56 makes literally no sense. You could just get the S24fe since it lost the one defining feature which would've made it worth Samsung's asking price.
You should've read the article. In an ideal world every device phone gets this process done in seconds. But, we don't and not everyone can afford to buy a decently powerful enough phone.
For those people, downloading the optimized odex files could be faster than creating them on device. Thanks to availability of super fast internet.
I downloaded and successfully setup buzzkill. Then a day or two later found FilterBox. It was created at the same time as buzzkill but has AI spam filtering – I'm guessing a traditional algorithm for spam filtering used in emails and not an an actual LLM.
So, why is it not recommended more instead of buzzkill.

It also has a nice UI and supports analytics for your notifications history. Also has double the downloads of buzzkill. Although, buzzkill has a simple UI.
The algorithm spam filtering which is based on your recommendation is neat. Especially, since you do not need to manually create rules for each and every spam message/notification across messaging apps.
What are your thoughts?
Since I just paid for buzzkill and did a thorough setup I hesitate to jump ship. But, spam filtering is enticing. For those 10-20% of use cases which cannot be filtered by regular rules unless you keep on adding more.
The sync developer has been MIA for a long time (1 year or longer) and I fear it will stop working sooner or later when Lemmy instances start updating to v1.0 in future.
I use Sync because it has a nice Material you theme, is smooth, supports caching posts & media offline (also keeps the comments, posts loaded even if android reclaims memory from the app)
I can open posts, comments, and even communities in a seperate window if I choose to do so.
Anything with multi window support out there yet? I used voyager for posting. But, want sync like multi window capabilities.

Google is making a change to Android’s early boot process that speeds up how quickly modules are loaded, making the Pixel 10 boot faster.

TL;DR
Google is working on a change to Android’s early boot process that improves how quickly kernel modules are loaded.
This change has resulted in a 30% reduction in loading time for the Pixel 10, according to a Google engineer.
As a result of this change, the Pixel 10 and other Android devices should boot up slightly faster, though it’s unclear how much of a difference it’ll make.
So, an acquaintance of mine has a malware which shows an ad every once a while especially when you install apps.
It's hiding in settings with an icon and name called "Settings". It has no icon in the launcher.
It cannot be uninstalled. It has acquired device admin settings and even that cannot be revoked. Google play protect warns of this malware but even play protect does not have enough permissions to actually remove it for good.
I tried to enable developer options to nuke it via adb. Unfortunately, developer options are blocked with a pop-up saying Device managed by your organization.
Outside of official service center visit. Or reflashing the stock firmware. Are there any ways the malware can be deleted?
I have advised to get it fixed from the place he bought.
Multiple Pixel phone users are reporting significant boosts in Geekbench GPU scores after updating to the Android 16 beta.
Android Authority can confirm that Pixel phones are performing better in this benchmark since launch, but that this is also the case on the most recent Android 15 stable release.
The reason for this performance increase hasn’t been confirmed but likely has to do with recent GPU driver updates.

Google is taking the stress out of sideloading apps on Android phones with a new feature rolling out to Google Play Store.
Link Actions
TL;DR
Google Play Store has started rolling out a new “Pause” feature for Play Protect, allowing users to temporarily disable app security scans.
Unlike the previous “Turn off” option, the new feature automatically reactivates Play Protect the next day, reducing the risk of users forgetting to turn it back on.
This update should help protect Android users from malware and scams while still allowing them to sideload apps without long-term security risks.

Motorola has two mid-range phones in the pipeline, the Edge 60 and Edge 60 Pro.

The pictures leaked by Winfuture.de come with very little information about their specs, so we’re left with what’s visible in the images for the most part. For starters, it looks like both Motorola phones will feature triple cameras. The 50-megapixel main camera on both will reportedly use Sony’s Lytia 900 sensor, which would be a nice improvement over the Lytia 700C sensor inside the previous models, Edge 50 and Edge 50 Pro.
Even though the Edge 60 series phone feature similar camera configurations, the vanilla model is said to offer a smaller 12-24 mm focal length, whereas the Edge 60 Pro’s main camera has a focal length of 12-73 mm.
One visible difference between the two phones is that the Edge 60 Pro comes with an extra button on the left side. Also, the Edge 60 Pro had a more curved display, but these seem to be the only design differences between the two device
Motorola Edge 60 will be available in three different colors – blue, rose/pink and turquoise, while the Edge

HyperOS 2 is exempted in the case of update eligibility for the Xiaomi Pad 6, as the company has already announced that this tablet will not get the Android 15 update. Instead, its last software update is scheduled as the HyperOS 2 based on Android 14, which is expected in May 2025 or even earlier.
The Xiaomi Pad 6 will only see one major software update-the HyperOS 2, based on Android 14. And this will bring a number of changes, including:
Improved User Interface: Enhancements to improve the user experience in terms of usability and easier navigation.
Performance Optimizations: Tweaks to make it run smoother and utilize resources more efficiently.
Security Enhancements: Security patches updated to protect user data and privacy.

The Dimensity 8400 incorporates the Cortex-A725 all-large-core architecture, which dramatically enhances its capabilities. This architecture delivers a 10% improvement in single-core performance while achieving a remarkable 35% reduction in power consumption compared to its predecessor. The CPU configuration includes one high-performance core clocked at 3.25GHz, three performance cores running at 3.0GHz, and four efficiency cores operating at 2.1GHz. With eight Arm Cortex-A725 CPU cores, a 5MB system cache, and a 6MB L3 cache, the chip achieves a multi-core performance boost of up to 32%, further solidifying its place as a powerhouse in the mobile chipset industry.
Power efficiency is another standout feature of the Dimensity 8400. Multi-core power consumption has been reduced by an impressive 44% compared to the previous generation. This efficiency extends across various everyday use cases, inc
The OPPO Find X8 Pro takes longer to charge than it's predecessors but that should be good news for long-term battery health.
Link Actions
SuperVOOC was once one of the fastest charging options in the smartphone space, but playing around with the latest iteration in the new OPPO Find X8 Pro feels comparatively slow. The flagship takes 50 minutes to fill up from an 80W SuperVOOC charger (why is it USB-A, OPPO, why?), which feels positively sluggish compared to the roughly 27 minutes I clocked on last year’s OPPO Find X7 Ultra, the OnePlus 12, and even the slightly older Find X6 Pro. What gives?
Well, those previously super-fast times came with one notable compromise — higher temperatures. Last year’s Find X7 Ultra hit highs of 38.4°C while the slightly smaller X8 Pro hit just 35.7°C. That might not seem like a huge difference, but inching ever closer to (or beyond) 40°C is exponentially worse for long-term battery health. Staying in the mid-30s earns a solid thumbs up. The drawback for the Fi
