Long term computer programmer, making my own library. American based. Far left politically. Promotes use of paper ballots. Follows news about environmental collapse, political corruption in my country, human rights, science and tech.

  • I have not used fiber much but read the docs earlier and liked it

  • It’s exactly like the “guns kill people” arguments. I would like all this AI stuff to go away, the tech is not ready to be used.

  • People made AI to lie. When companies make something that does not work and promote it as reliable, that’s on the people doing that.

When faulty products are used by people, that’s on them.

I can no more blame AI than I could a car used during a robbery . Both are tools

  • AI does not lie. People using untrustworthy AI lie when they promote it as their own work.

Edit: to clarify, a day later. AI has wrong facts and cannot be trusted or used well. But machines don’t lie, people promoting the use of things that create misinformation lie. I wrote this to mimic the “guns kill” argument because I thought it would be fun to see reactions .

I learned a lot from this

  • Can only worry about elections if they are fair and people understand exactly why they are honest.

Even then, can only worry about social progress when there are not elections. Elections cannot produce change

  • Honestly I was only being snarky. There is definitely more parasites the more cats there are, but probably are not responsible for me finding then cute

  • We only adore cats because of the parasites controlling our minds.

There is a distinct correlation between cats taking over homes and the spread of that thing

  • Any paranoia and rebellion against the billionaires is good, no matter why or how.

And now that I think about it; I would be very surprised if the photo company was not making extra money from all the information given it

  • Very cool, I like it.

But I will not use it because the other approaches have larger ecosystems. Php is great for web programming; I have written hundreds of thousands of lines of php over the last decades. But I am definitely going to use JavaScript and Java to write apps

  • Yield is perhaps the oldest and least used keyword on the php ecosystem. I went through several large code bases trying to see how it’s used, and it really wasn’t that much.

I think this is because it’s one of those keywords whose expected usage is covered by other solutions

  • This was written 14 years ago and is mostly not relevant today, where the defaults are better.

There are very few things still working today that did that then and never improved . And to those stubborn dinosaurs, I congratulate them

  • I’m thinking of doing a startup that processes used kitty litter. I think our end result needs some more work but looks promising

  • It’s a fact that old cat people become more beautiful with age

  • An appointee having any sort of moral compass or backbone is news indeed.

  • Upvoted because : angry birds reference

  • Statistics has been in the decline, I’m surprised this one particular stoppage was noticed when so many others have been ignored.

For example, most people don’t know that exit polls have mostly stopped in the USA in the last few years while still used in most other countries

  • I did green

  • I think some I know were freaked out by the halftime being in Spanish, and also they hated the white supremacist alternative.

They did not identify with either show, and felt more insecure.

  • American politics has become more conservative, or reactionary, over this period. The actual American left never really changed.
