  • They're drawing chores while Marge is in the hospital from stress.

Unfortunately for Lisa, all of Homer's draws are practices. Homer and Bart end up at a leper colony, on Flanders dime.

Is that the hat Marge wore in the episode where she becomes a real estate agent and Homer buys Lil' Bandit?

  • I remember getting free software this way. I don't remember what game it was, but I do remember it took like 8 months. They called me one day to tell me that the company they had paid to fulfill the orders had gone out of business, but they were working to get another one, and I would get the game at some point. (I might have sent a letter - this was the early 1990s - asking about the status).

It might have been Marble Madness for the IBM PC. I'm not sure.

  • Update - I left the door open for several hours yesterday, then closed it in the evening and put food inside. This morning, the food was still there and the litter box was untouched, so it's a safe bet she left. I'll keep an eye out to see if she seems to be looking for a way to get back inside.

  • I used to live on the 15th floor of a high rise building. One day I had the windows open and my cat saw something outside that he tried to attack. There was nothing outside to catch him if the screen had given way: it was a drop straight to the ground. Fortunately the screen held in place, but it was scary.

I never opened the window that far again.

  • The opponents say that every time. "No one ever uses them."

I can't speak to those specifically, but I see bike lanes in use all the time. Every time I'm in DC, cyclists in the bike lane, no matter the weather. Every time I ride a path that used to be a railroad, there are dozens of people also using it.

I'm in an abandoned rails group on Facebook, and some of them are very angry about abandoned railroad lines being converted to bike paths. The line will have been abandoned for decades and they still whine. "They should run trains on that!" To abandon a rail line, the company has to demonstrate that there's not enough business in the line to make it viable. They can't just toss it on a whim. Occasionally I've asked how much money they personally will contribute to reactivating the line, to which they inevitably say - apparently in earnest - the government should pay for it. Did I mention these guys are almost always right wingers?

It's so bad, that I created this gif to use:

  • Yeah, I opened the garage door partway so she can get out if she wants. The plan is to close it again later, then put food out again, and see what happened to the food in the morning.

I told my wife that if the cat is going to live in there, I want to put in a cat door for her. And get her cheaper, non prescription food (our cats, all indoor only, are all on prescription food, for various issues). I don't want to steal my neighbor's cat, of course, but if that's where she chooses to shelter, I'm sure my neighbor will be happy she found a warm place indoors. Apparently the neighbor was hoping to domesticate her but wasn't successful, so this might be a good compromise for her. I'm sure our neighbor has a shelter set up for her, and food is out for her at that house, so it's up to the cat what she wants to do.

I'm not looking to take on responsibility for another cat, but I won't force her out, either.

  • Yeah that's what worries me, as far as I'm aware, there are no critters in there. She did eat both servings of food I put out. I left the door open a bit to let her escape if she wanted.

  • Yeah I feel so bad, I had no idea she was trapped!

Tubby is trapped in our garage

  • ... Spoils the entire bunch.

That's the rest of that phrase. The people who defend the police always forget that part of the phrase.

  • But if you were referring to Kellogg’s (wildly unfounded) hypothesis that bland food would somehow repress sexual urges, I don’t think he’d approve of adding sugar to make it taste better.

Yep, that was the reference, in a Ned Flanders-ish way of saying it! I agree, he wouldn't approve of the sugar at all. I was just noting that the base food - corn flakes - is the same.

  • I use DHCP for everything, even my server, with a reserved IP address in the router for the server and my desktop and a few other things I don't want to move around (printers, some IoT things, Home Assistant, etc.).

I think the issue is the bridge interface I have to set up for Home Assistant.

  • I think you're right, but aren't frosted flakes just corn flakes with a bit of sugar added to make them slightly more edible?

  • Chester J Lampwick

  • Oh, don't worry, she didn't abandon him. At all!

It really would have been interesting to get Neelix and Tuvok's takes on the separation afterward. Presumably they remember everything that happened when they were combined, right?

  • Oh this is the 138th Episode Spectacular.

  • Oh that's amazing. I have to watch that video.

  • This reminds me... My server demands to be known as hostname.local on my network. The other machines just respond to just hostname. I really should figure out why that is.

  • It shut down after they exposed it? That's great, but I'm shocked the site owners cared about the exposure. (I haven't watched the video yet.)

  • Oh god mine will. Sort of, he's not sprawled out, but he's against my head. I want to breathe without inhaling cat fur? Too bad. I will be cuddled.

He doesn't do it every night, but he did it a few times last night. Dude, please let me sleep. I love him, but I need sleep.

He's pretty good (not perfect) about not waking me up, but when I wake up he sometimes shows up for attention. So when I would usually fall back asleep quickly, instead I'm now wide awake.

I love him. Someday I will miss it, I know.
