I already knew that this was not a style of hip-hop that I enjoy. So I went into this with low expectations and I think I can say my expectations were met lol.
It felt like Bodak Yellow was supposed to be one of the highlights of the album and I can see the appeal there but that one is not for me.
Two songs that I kind of liked were Be Careful and I Like It. Be Careful was a nice change of pace from the rest of the album and it had an interesting beat. And I Like It was just too much fun with the booming bass over the "I like it like that" sample.
Other than those two tracks and a few absurd lines from Cardi that made me crack a smile there wasn't much else I liked from this album.
Love the band name and the music is pretty rad. But is there something controversial with this band? I'm curious why this post has a handful of downvotes
This is very cool! Thanks for sharing
This is new to me too. Very nice sound though
They have a song exploder episode on the song Cattails. Also Adrianne Lenker's solo stuff is worth giving a listen
Sounds great!
Don't apologize! I'd like to help out and keep this community going so I'm happy to do this. But I think I'll hold off until Tuesday to post. So basically just skip this week and start it up again next week. Did you have any albums in mind for the next one? If not I'll pick something that is "essential alternative"
Oh I didn't hear about that. Hopefully he's okay
Vanishing Twin - Afternoon X

Here is the 4th album from London band Vanishing Twin. I would describe them as dreamy and psychedelic. Maybe Stereolab is a good comparison. Check them out if that interests you! And I recommend their 3 previous albums too if you like this.
Permanently Deleted
This is really cool. Thanks for sharing. It looks like this is from their 2023 album Noisserped. I'll be giving that a listen soon
Singer-songwriter Sufjan is my favorite Sufjan

This whole album is really cool. Vocals remind me a bit of IDLES
Sufjan Stevens - Javelin
Hey [email protected] are we doing an album club post this week? You do a lot for this community so I wouldn't mind taking this over moving forward if you'd like. I'd hate to see it die already
I know a lot of people find this song annoying but I like it. Glad you like it too!
Dos Monos - In 20XX (Japan)

Just read the sidebar and learned what Worldwide Wednesday was! So I wanted to share this Japanese group. No idea what they're saying but I love the beat and the flows and the distinct style of each rapper in the group. Also this video is quite the trip. .
Sleater-Kinney feat. Fred Armisen - Rock Lobster (Live Cover of B-52's Song)

I'm digging the new Sleater-Kinney song and I was reminded of this video. Fred Armisen joins them on stage to perform Rock Lobster!
I really like clipping.'s There Existed an Addiction to Blood (2019) or Visions of Bodies Being Burned (2020). They definitely fit the horror theme however both include elements of noise and industrial music and they can be more challenging listens at times.
Before giving this a listen the only song I had heard from Naughty by Nature was O.P.P. I'm really glad I gave this a listen. This is right up my alley when it comes to old school hip hop. I love the constant onslaught of rhymes over the old school funky beats.
A lot of good songs here but I'll highlight City of Ci-Lo and Klickow-Klickow specifically for the beats. Both have a more dissonant sound which I really like.
I wasn't a fan of a few of the cheesier choruses. Especially Slang Bang. That one got a little annoying. But I get that their just trying to grab people's attention with some of those.
Shout Out felt like it didn't belong but I appreciate what they were trying to do there. I can't complain too much about it since they still put out nearly an hour of rapping if you skip that one.
Overall a great album and I plan to check out more of their work now.
I'm lucky enough to do most of my music listening while working. Hooray for work from home desk jobs!
bar italia sneaking in at number 40! I didn't realize they had a new song out. I highly recommend their album Tracey Denim released earlier this year.
Awesome energy! I haven't heard these guys before. Thanks for sharing
Eartheater - Powders

Honestly I haven't been a fan of Eartheater's brand of experimental pop in the past. However with Powders she has taken a more subdued approach to create what is essentially a trip hop album. It has a really interesting and unexpected cover of Chop Suey halfway through the album too. And if you like this it is apparently a sister album to her upcoming 2024 album Aftermath. I'll be looking forward to that.
It feels like a big day with both Animal Collective and Wilco releasing new albums!
By the way I saw you made threads for those two. I was up earlier today and made thread for those ones already.

New Animal Collective! I read that this one was written in the same time period as their previous record Time Skiffs.
That's reasonable

The new Animal Collective album in the morning made me want to check out some related videos. I ended up on this video for Go On from Panda Bear and Sonic Boom's 2022 collaboration. It is an absolute trip!

Released last Friday. Here's the 4th album from UK punk duo JOHN (TIMESTWO) made up of, you guessed it, two guys named John. Really cool collection of songs with propulsive and energetic guitar and drums and vocals that remind me a little bit of IDLES. Enjoy!

Loraine James is a British experimental electronic producer. I'm really enjoying this album from her so far. I hear some really interesting combinations of r&b, downtempo, glitch, and maybe some emo. Check it out if that at all interests you!

I'm really enjoying this indie record from Vancouver's Haley Blais. It's full of emotional lyrics and dynamic instrumentation with elements of folk, rock, and pop. Released last Friday but I don't think it was posted yet. Enjoy!

Anyone else see them at their homecoming festival last night? They put on a great show so I wanted to post an older track of theirs which they performed last night.
