  • my work we had test, stage and prod. test was very unstable as every merge auto deployed, so stage was semi stable where you would push changes you verified in test. then one day they decided to remove the stage environment. we have no data in test, other teams never passed data there, so we setup a semi production environment that has data and cost 10x as much. now they want to setup a stage environment to save costs but they don't want to call it stage because that was bad and was too expensive. so they came up with a new name and are making everyone update to push data there. honestly i can't take watching these people be praised for their innovation and promoted to make more of these shit decisions. the world's gone mad and the madder you are the more you're rewarded.

  • for large batches all you really need is a food safe container and some kind of filter like cheese cloth. i find it easier to cleanup and maintain than a lot of the more expensive ones sold as well.

  • nobara is more focused on gaming and includes patches and software to play games without having to tinker a lot. you could use any distro but some games might have performance issues or require additional settings and configuration. nobara gets rid of maintaining that yourself, you might still have to tinker with a few things like launch options but not as in depth as other distros.

another popular distro is bazzite which does similar things, though i feel that's a bit more advanced to understand some concepts.

if your curious about switching i would recommend, if you can, to install a second hdd (can be cheap/small) and try one or both of them for a week to see what it's like and how well your games run. also if you don't like how one looks you can also try different desktop implementations. coming from windows, KDE will feel very familiar.

  • from your own source

There is a broad consensus among economists that protectionism has a negative effect on economic growth and economic welfare, while free trade and the reduction of trade barriers has a positive effect on economic growth.

A 2016 study found that "trade typically favors the poor", as they spend a greater share of their earnings on goods, as free trade reduces the costs of goods

So to reduce costs of goods we will make cheap items from China cost more so USA made can compete at a higher price. why doesn't the math work here? how does this result in a better economy?

  • there was a study done in the 50s that pretty much decided US health policy for decades that said fat is bad and makes you fat. the reaction to this was for companies to remove fat from their products to claim it's low fat but in order to maintain taste they replaced it with sugar. this proliferated all food products and being coupled with both parents working 40+ hours a week caused a lot of families to fill fridges with highly processed foods with "healthy" sugar/fat levels that could be prepared easily. tie in the fact that there's no time to exercise with the fact that most Americans drive to destinations, it becomes easy to read articles that x is the cause of obesity that it took a long time to realize what the real problems are.

  • America is an oligarchy ,has been my entire life, and always will be.

Are you over 200 years old? government used to break up monopolies. citizens united probably wasn't the beginning but it sure did streamline the corruption and legalize the purchase of politicians. Anyways, normalizing apathy probably isn't going to help the situation.

  • the entire songs context is around the Battle of Baltimore which included 25 hours of naval bombardment. from the perspective of the ships where it was witnessed and given the volume of shells fired they assumed everyone would be dead.

  • is English your first language because you either don't understand what I'm saying or you are too ignorant to understand.

swastikas being bannable outside of specific religious contexts

that's literally what i said. the context around the symbol is what is important. no one in south west asia sees a swastika and think Nazis because it's part of the religious culture. just as no one sees Pepe and thinks nazis because no one normal participated in that shit subculture of 4chan except Nazis.

Let's actually look at what happened with Pepe, he was created by an artist then appropriated by Nazis. The artist then posted that he was outraged and disappointed that it was taken over by Nazis. people listened and were also outraged and did everything to normalize and take it back from the Nazis, because again it wasn't theirs to take in the first place. now you imagine the 12 year old posting it are nazis when they have no context of any of the events your talking about. go touch grass, your brain is rotting.

  • the symbol predates Germany, initial findings date it back to 3300-1300 BC. you're telling me all historical religious symbols in Asian countries should wiped of the icon because of Nazis misappropriating their symbol? you would literally deface ancient sites that predate nazis by thousands of years because you can only see it as a symbol of hate?

you can use context clues such as actual hate speech, nazi slogans and genocide to distinguish those that are actually racist. the whole point of nazism is to erase culture and replace it with only the "one true race". by allowing nazis and white supremacists to appropriate symbols you're actively giving them power.
