  • "B-but a DOG isnt allowed to play BASKETBALL!" the other team sobs as Air Bud continues to sink 3-pointer after 3-pointer on them.

  • Wild the amount of money spent bring back an extict species instead of trying to protect the ones we already have.

Its like trying to justify ruining the environment and driving species to extinction as no biggie because we can just have a do-over through the power of science.

  • Pretty sure he was criticizing vaccine mandates, not anything of real value.

  • This is the result of a mind that has been fed the myth of "American Exceptionalism" since day one and has never had to suffer the consequences of his actions.

  • Lol, just like how they finallt got to use their prepper skills when they were asked to stay at home for a few weeks at the start of covid?

  • Just imagine if instead of millitary service, it was compulsary public service that actually benefitted society. Nursing, construction/infrastructure, farming, teaching/childcare, etc.

Its astrounding how much money is pumped into the military industrial complex when it could be used to fund to many other programs for public good.

    But that would be sOciALiSm.

  • Lol good one

  • Because the alternative is trying to stay in a dying physical medium (CDs), a nice physical medium (LPs), or accepting piracy.

Streaming was a compromise to allow record labels to sell access to music at a bulk cost so that they can continue to exist.

I would say "take notes", but I know how underfunded your schools are

  • I tell you what, we'll trade you Alberta and Saskatchewan, the BEEF, OIL, AND GAS POWERHOUSES OF CANADA for your libcucked latte sipping west coast states California, Oregon, and Washington.

  • "We only want convoluted tax breaks that only benefit the wealthiest tier of Canadians, not broad strokes that attempt to help the poorest!"

  • Literally had a coworker ask in a Narcan training session, with 100% sincerity "Why dont we just let them die? They made their choice, why should we save them?"

Too many people have the inability to imagine themselves in anyone else's shoes but their own.

  • I wonder if anyone who is in favour of shutting down these sites have ever been to the point of desparation of using intravenous drugs to escape their life for a few fleeting moments.

Do they realize that its not "oh, a safe injection site? Well, I guess now is a good time to start doing smack".

  • Nearly a fucking year ago. Insane how the death machine just keeps chugging along unabated.

  • News outlets: "Gen X/Millenials are about to receive the greatest generational wealth transfer in the history of mankind!"

Scammers and Reverse Mortgage brokers: "Lol"

  • Still waiting on that Redditor to reveal the gay senator he was having an affair with.

  • Exaclty. Blackmail only works if the target has a sense of shame, and clearly MAGAts abandones theirs long ago.

  • And "business" lunches, rounds of golf, general hobnobbing, etc.

Guys like that will be on holiday and check their email once per day, respond to two of them, then claim to "never take vacation".

    Their whole reality is warped.

  • Whats wrong with bluesky? Ive been using it fornthe past week and its definitely more intuitive and accessible for the average joe than Mastodon.

  • Oh no, its illegal to use the military for domestic police work? Deploying the National Guard would be a "faux pas"?

Well, I'm sure that will stop him for sure!

    NGD: Yamaha Revstar Element

This thing punches waaaaay above its weight class in terms of price to playability. It is actually stupid how much better it is than my LP. Neck heel is beautiful, completely open access to the upper frets. A nice, chunky, matte neck, too.

It also has a coil-tap-but-not-coil-tap on the tone knob push pull that gives a little more bite and chime single coil character but with minimal output loss.

Another thing I really appreciate is that Yamaha took the time to wire the pots correctly so when I turn them "forward" (counterclockwise), the volume goes up. Some other, bigger companies do not always take the time to do this.

All in all, a solid guitar for a great price. Highly recommend giving it a look if you are in the market for a versatile HH guitar.

the little bike that can't die... My 1982 Suzuki GS400L

I bought this bike six years ago as my first bike, and it only had ~22,000kms on it, not bad for a 35 year old (at the time) bike.

Its been my bike that I have learned on, not just rising, but hard lessons in general. Some of these include:

    • Do not tarp your bike as soon as you are done riding, the tarp will melt on the exhaust pipes.
    • Check your clutch cable regularly to see if its wearing out so it doesn't snap on you in the middle of traffic (and also the day before your road test).
    • It is very hard to find a clutch cable on short notice on a Saturday evening.
    • Oil changes require a crush washer, or you will leak oil. A lot of oil.
    • On that note, it is recommended that oil changes take place a little more frequently than once every five years.
    • You should bring your bike in for a tire change while the tires can still hold air for longer than 2 hours.
    • Bring your battery inside in the winter so water inside doesn't freeze, and you wont have to boost your battery every 2 wee

Today in hockey history: The trade is one-for-one

Back in 2016, two trades happened that seemed like seismic events in the NHL that... never really impacted any of the teams involved in the way that they thought it would:

    • PK Subban is traded from the Montreal Canadiens to the Nashville Predators in exchange for Shea Weber
    • Taylor Hall is traded from the Edmonton Oilers to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for Adam Larsson

At the time, these felt like franchise defining moves that would have immediate impacts, but ultimately didn't really move the needle in any significant way.

    • Taylor Hall wont a Hart and helped the Devils get to the playoffs for the first time in six years, but then missed the playoffs for the next two and was traded to Arizona in 2019 for Kevin Bahl, Nick Merkley, Nate Schnarr, and the pick that NJ used to get Dawson Mercer
    • Adam Larsson did help the Oilers on defense, but ultimately never got farther than the 2nd round with Edmonton. He was taken by Seattle in the 2021 expansion draft
    • PK helped Nashville

    Peach Cobbler

Here's a nice and easy cast iron recipe (especially nice when fresh peaches are in season).

    Peach Cobbler:

    • 1 Cup Flour
    • 1 Cup White Granulated Sugar
    • 3 tsp Baking Powder
    • pinch of Salt
    • 1/4 Cup of Butter
    • About 6 Peaches
    1. Preheat Oven to 375°F
    2. Slice peaches into 12 equal segments, remove skin, place in a bowl. If you like, spinkle some sugar & cinnamon to your liking (I think they're fine on their own).
    3. In another bowl, combine dry ingredients. Add milk and whisk until smooth.
    4. In a 10"-12" Cast Iron pan, melt 1/4 Cup of Butter on low heat.
    5. Once butter is melted, pour batter into pan, then pour fruit on top. Spread fruit around, but don't mix in with the batter too much.
    6. Bake in oven at 375°F for 30-45 minutes until golden brown on top.
    7. Serve with vanilla ice cream.

    Vintage Gibson content

I'm still new to this, so I havent been able to find an Instance for guitar amps.

I recently scored this 1958 Gibson GA8 Gibsonette and I'm kind of really stoked on it. Its got a pretty unique circuit that uses 2 6v6 in a parallell single ended configuration instead of the usual push-pull. Less volume, but boy howdy does it get greasy.

Anyone else have some unique amps that they want to share with the class?
