On Sunday, May 5th, I received an email from a person claiming to have access to a massive leak of API documentation from inside Google’s Search division.

Just a read before one invest time in w3w .... https://shkspr.mobi/blog/2025/02/endless-downward-spiral-is-this-the-beginning-of-the-end-of-what3words/
I am just glad both first seasons didnt end with a cliffhangar or mayor open plot points. Some hints to future story lines but all in all ok.
Yep cant get in after the last changes
I also like to measure in jetwing money ... This is like half a jetwing.
Anyone else having mixed feelings about being happy it crashes the moon? (instead of hoping our companion will be left alone) ....
Meanwhile offloading high-end series like WestWorld to Hulu or ad-supported streamers, all not available in my country. HBO, why again?

Wont work if its PC Smartphone combo
Shameless plug about my own lemmy post about filebased FF sync: https://lemmy.ml/post/27254722
Thnx, so practically not doable. Also file and directory structure differs between PC and Android adding further to the problem.
You sure about that? From memory It did work with floccus (though it does it in a weird way).
Floccus for Android is a local standalone app, usefull but doesnt read / write to Firefox Android bookmarks ..
Yeah maybe my instructions are ment for backups rather than keeping a workflow in sync with all your devices. Sorry for my bad reading skills !
Appreciated still, I backup with restic but indeed these are usefull for backup.
Also, syncing your whole profile between Desktop/laptop and your phone won’t work that easily… They behave very differently and do not have the same directory structure/files on your phone.
This, for me, is the real answer to "Is filebased sync for Firefox possible?"! Because in a pc / smartphone scenario those apps cant work then with each others directories, thanks!
Will check this out, thanks!
Thanks!
Must admit .... I realise now I am tweaking something I got used to, but going back to why and all ... because I do use Floccus icw my own NextCloud instance. But mainly for long-term-archival-avalability and for laptop devices, because Floccus doesnt sync Firefox Android. So from mobile its this:
At the moment:
So, the focus would be syncing Open Tabs and History ....
Fair point, so I need to trust this server or control it myself etc.
File based syncing of profile data instead of Mozilla sync?
I use Firefox (LibreWolf with Mozilla sync) on multiple devices. To have my tabs, extensions and history easy available I use Mozilla for syncing that data.
Would it be possible to just use a generic sync service like rsync or something, to sync the profile folders and every file in it?
Or would that break or corrupt data?
How to join Librewolf Matrix room?
Was wondering why no new messages turned up, since tuesday or something. Turned out the Librewolf Matrix room is changed / upgraded or something like that. It involves joining once again. But both in Element and Fluffy clients I get this error:
MatrixError: [403] You do not belong to any of the required rooms/spaces to join this room. (https://matrix-client.matrix.org/_matrix/client/v3/join/!AMixpitUKQHatikSri%3Amatrix.org?server_name=matrix.org&server_name=envs.net&server_name=fedora.im&via=matrix.org&via=envs.net&via=fedora.im)
Is there a way to join the matrix chat room one again?
I do see the space with the 3 rooms.
Thanks, it was my intention to backup Librewolf app folder for some time now, so this issue was as good a reason as any to implement that first (using Restic).
After that I felt save to tinker and also read about ini and profiles: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/understanding-depth-profile-installation
Luckily both install entries mentioned different default profiles. And when started, Librewolf Profilemanager has the default selected (showing blue/active in my case). So I was able to determine which install was my current one. The other one I deleted from installs.ini and profiles.ini because I am not running multiple instances of Librewolf / Firefox (with each their own set of profiles etc).
Seems to work now, test it once again after a reboot!
Profilemanager opening nothing
Background: I use profiles frequently to separate work, home and other things. In some profiles I use other DRM and fingerprint settings etc Also I switched from installing from flathub to manual (https://librewolf.net/installation/debian/)
Issue: Since a couple of weeks, some profiles dont start. Choosing them will amount to nothing. Librewolf doesnt start, not in the background nor in the foreground. Choosing another profile and after that, the intended one sometimes works around the issue.
Research:
The installs.ini shows the default profile TWO times:
[AA67A15BF0F93AE3] Default=Thuis Locked=1
[6C4726F70D182CF7] Default=Thuis Locked=1
Both installs are also mentioned in profiles.ini.
Question:
Download this ActiveX component to have an extra searchbar, super usefull pinky swear!
Or was that more like 2006?
Rather the exeption then rule, but it can be done if instances add it. For example social.edu.nl for all vocational and higher education in NL uses OpenConext to let you log in with your institution account.
Afaik there is a lot of federation but not your identity (meaning you cant use one account for the other).
Do you mean containers? At least it sounds like it.
Or always start with profilemanager. But indeed, also a launch argument.
At the moment, running different profiles simultaneously is not possible
Bullocks. I run 2 or 3 profiles at the same time. For over 2 years now. Just easier now.

Leaked Google Search API documentation
On Sunday, May 5th, I received an email from a person claiming to have access to a massive leak of API documentation from inside Google’s Search division.
I didnt need even more motivation to degoogle but got it anyway.
Firefox DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials Extension NOT injecting CSS for Google Ads
Download DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials voor Firefox. Privacy vereenvoudigd. Bescherm je gegevens wanneer je online informatie zoekt en browset met trackerblocking, slimmere versleuteling, privé zoeken en browsen, en meer.
My questions are:
Background:
I have a simple static one page site with just one html and css file. It's completely tracker free. Debugging it a bit with developer mode (F12) on I discovered a second css file. This file isnt on my webserver but added local. To pinpoint what caused this I removed every add-on / extension in my browser one by one, reloading and checking my website every time. Took me a while because didnt expect this one causing it.
To reproduce:
Content of the css file: :is([id*='google_ads_iframe'], [id*='taboola-'],
/run/user/1000: What to do with it?
My main question is about /run/user/1000:
Background: I'm fairly new to Linux and just getting used to it.
I use fsearch to quickly find files (because my filenaming convention helps me to get nearly everything in mere seconds). Yesterday I decided to let it index from root and lower instead of just my home folder.
Then I got a lot of duplicate files. For example in subfolders relating to my mp3 player I even discovered my whole NextCloud 'drive' is there again: /run/user/1000/doc/by-app/org.strawberrymusicplayer.strawberry/51b78f5c/N
Searching: Looking for answers I read these, but couldnt make sense of it.
Puzzled:
Plex Discover Together shares a bit too much. ...
Although the headline focusses on a obvious category of media, it really can go wrong on a lot of other categories as well.
