  • What password manager should i try next?

  • I agree with this, but the biggest benefit to me is that it's (a) open source and auditable, (b) self-hostable to owning my data, and (c) has a cheap hosted plan so I can choose to not handle my own major security. For meeting all of my highest personal priorities I'm willing to put up with some clunkiness. But, man, I would love the friendliness I hear about from the likes of 1password!

  • The article is worth a read but to save you a click if you don't want to: Windows 11 is the worst in all metrics. Includes startup time, RAM usage, and speed of using apps (Paint, web browser)

    This is a pattern that keeps repeating: Windows 11 was last in the battery test, took longer to render a video project in OpenShot, took its sweet time opening the File Explorer window, and opening built-in applications like MS Paint left enough time to fetch a fresh cup of coffee. Not to mention Windows 11 taking the longest to open websites and scoring worst of all in single-threaded CPU-Z.

  • Agreed, but if Taiwan can respond to an initial attack well enough then they buy time for their real defenses to kick in, mostly allies. It's not a pointless statement or stance.

    Other apps can use's iPhones NFC for payment functionality, the probe is to see if the requirements to be able to do so are reasonable.

  • I am autistic and sometimes struggle to understand indirect statements (especially when not in-person, since there's no tone or expressions to read). I did understand your original comment, but even now I don't see why the second comment should be understood to exclude neurodivergent people. I'm speaking both for myself and for anyone similar to past-me who would have genuinely felt insulted but not said anything.

    This doesn't say anything about you, but yes I did assume that a stranger on the internet would insult ND people for social interaction issues. I did just join Lemmy though, so maybe that's an old habit that doesn't apply here. I am glad that I was wrong.

    I'm not saying that you should have put a tag on your comment, but insulting those for whom it would have been helpful is uncalled for.

  • I just joined Lemmy! I tried to a while back but I struggled to find communities to subscribe to. I found much better tools this time and I think I'll be staying.
