  • I'm reading how to blow up a pipeline by Andreas Malm, I'd recommend it.

  • Lemmy only supports following groups. It will reject a post if it isn't posted to a group.

Check out piefed and mbin for things that are more compatible.

  • It annoys me that we have on one atproto, but there's no fediverse one.

  • You don't have to federate if you don't want to.

  • That's the main premise of anarchism

  • To be fair, the instance is just on a subdomain of db0's personal site.
I'd do the same to avoid paying for a domain name.

Whenever I press the shift key on my laptop the fans start spluttering.

Whenever I press or hold the shift key the fans stop spinning properly and make a slight grinding sound.
It only happens with the one on the right side of my keyboard. The hashtag key does the same, but the grinding sound is louder. The laptop is a thinkpad e15, and it is (unfortunately) running windows.

  • Story of undertale, a traumatisingly bad undertale fan-video. Its on youtube if you hate yourself want to see it.

  • That's an interesting idea

  • A lot of it is liberals (and to a lesser extent: anarchists), but hexbear users are pretty argumentative (not an insult necessarily!) and tend to flood threads giving the illusion of brigading (happened on reddit as well with r/cth).

edit: if you want to federate with everyone, piefed.social and lemmy.zip are pretty good.

    Temporarily embarrased millionaires.

  • Sure, but those methods are severly different.
FWIW: I think left unity is pretty important now, during another rise in fascism, but I don't think it will last long.

we're just people on a webforum

That's a really good take, actually.

There is so much obvious astroturfing on reddit.

Take this post for example: https://www.reddit.com/r/northernireland/comments/1ll6ocg/see_it_say_it_censored_kneecap_is_not_the_story/

Speaking from experience, people in Ireland are overwhelmingly pro-palestine.
There is this user in the comments: https://www.reddit.com/user/EntireCourage308/
Its a nearly year-old account, it started posting about a month ago, it made some innoculous posts, then pivoted to posting far-right misinformation in the r/northernireland subreddit.

There's loads of other accounts just like it.

The strenghts and weaknesses of atproto and activitypub.

There is a lot bluesky gets right, and a lot it gets wrong, the same is true with Activitypub.

    (Some) strengths of Atproto

Atproto is content-addressed, and portable. This means that posts can exist independantly of their original server.
Instead of giving posts a https uri, which will stop working if a user moves servers or their server disappears, they give them at uris.
For example, this post on bsky.app: https://bsky.app/profile/ponder.ooo/post/3lk4yrmyugc2f
Has the at:// link is: at://did:plc:i4bfh2tyxihe2ksplmtcoopk/app.bsky.feed.post/3lk4yrmyugc2f.
The post does exist over https at https://porcini.us-east.host.bsky.network/xrpc/com.atproto.repo.getRecord?repo=did:plc:i4bfh2tyxihe2ksplmtcoopk&collection=app.bsky.feed.post&rkey=3lk4yrmyugc2f.

Atproto is very easy to build apps on. For example, tangled.sh, frontpage.fyi and flushes.app are all apps built on atproto.
Atproto allows more flexibility in what an app can do, as opposed to lem
