  • Guess it depends on what it is, but 90day warranties are still a thing. Everything is just meant to be disposable now though so I guess the idea of refunds is an older person thing.

  • I think at this point it's just a huge fuck you we do what we want from M$. The combination of image handling in word and issues with images and formatting in PowerPoint not playing nicely between Mac and PC platforms are literally decades old now.

Also, why does publisher still exist? Just give me a publisher mode button in word where rulers show up and everything moves to default text box formatting and better imagine handling.

  • So we should all assume free services put us at risk of grossly negligent loss of life? It wasn't just Google, the damn thing wasn't even marked. Did you read the article? It doesn't sound like this had much to do with a lack of common sense. There is a closed road by me that I have reported three times to Google maps over the past four years and it remains marked as open on maps - it is frustrating to have a reporting feature available and have these requests ignored / univestegated.

  • Agree that humble beginnings stories probably make for better politicians (she's far from the first though), but the drive to tolerate years of political bullshit is almost always a personal power quest and indoctrination into a corrupt system makes for corrupt individuals. The expectation from prior data would be for her to follow this route. I will disagree with you that she doesn't care about power (and shit).

  • Agreed. Seems like they were in a super tough spot with that and kind of had to drop it. All the sudden they seem to be doing some new cool stuff to try to keep their edge which I really appreciate / respect. That being said, I've dumped them and switched to a service that still port forwards as it gives me better torrenting throughput. Sorry Mullvad.

  • You are buying access to a VPN not a nuclear warhead for the black market. The link between buying a VPN card and the code used in that card to link to said vpn activity which is also pretty well protected on Mullvad is not easily discoverable. Seems like a pretty reasonable privacy gap to me.

Im excited to try these holders though. I've been photographing different items in the kitchen, using photo to stl conversion and making placeholders for things with that technique - so yes, the obsession is real.

  • Very nice! I have the same locking Rubbermaid lids and I use an accoridian stainless plate holder for them. It works quite well, but this looks even a little bit better and is a perfect unnecessary 3d printing project to add to my list. Assume the medium lids (second shelf down on left) are with the regular stl, not the "big" one? Assume PLA for this? Doesn't really need to be PETG does it? Agree no supports needed? 15% infill?

  • This is depressing as hell.

Most people have no idea how much sci-hub has advanced medical and basic scientific discovery.

We need things like the archive more than ever now too as the the disease of thinking truth is a maleable substrate continues to spread.

  • Supports are tricky. Use support painting to pick areas that are less visible when possible for support scars. You Can you use prusa slicer with bambu I believe. I find organic supports scar less is many instances. Most straightforward answer is also to try increasing support spacing.

"Wood" staining, sanding, and clear coating?

Recently did a test print with Creality Pla-wood. The smell during the print is amazing, I'm kind of hooked. I printed something flat, was easy to sand and stain looks incredible, 100% looks like wood. It's been 48h and no matter how much I wipe the thing it's still tacky / leaves a little residue on my hands. Do I just need to wait longer? Is this normal? Is it OK to clearcoat before absolutely bone dry / residue free?

What about sanding more complex structures? Do I need to get a sand blaster for this? Is there a dremel brush I could use?

    Software for screw-cap replacements?

I feel like this might/should exist, but I can't find it. Is there a program that allows for replacement screw cap generation by simply entering a diameter, depth, thread gap, and thread pitch? Would be really nice to have something like that. I the meantime, maybe I'll consider printing tpu corks/ stoppers with mid diameter equal to vessel opening diameter.

    can I use arlo camera?

I think the answer is no, but I have an arlo security camera kicking around (arlo indoor essential camera). There's not a simple way to hack this into something that would work with octoprint is there?
