Obviously last 2 aren't relevant here. First two, strictly as written, I wouldn't have issues with but I have seen sooo many leftists sites use the same language to basically virtue signal that they don't like conservatives, conservative ideas, or speaking out in any way against minorities.

Like I can understand not wanting slurs or personal attacks. But not being able to voice the opinion that affirmative-action hurts minorities or that gender-affirming care harms the patient as well as society without being called a bigot seems practically impossible on reddit or 99.999% of Lemmy instances.

Could be these guys interpret those rules literally like I do or could be they interpret things through a Critical Race Theory / leftist lens. I have no clue but I usually put it in reverse when I see this cuz it's so often the leftist interpretation.

America is a melting pot and always has been

when the term melting pot was originally coined, it was largely referring to things during the industrial revolution where migrants from various places in europe who actually wanted to work hard and make something of themselves were the ones coming into the country.

today, the migrants (and a large chunk of the citizens) just want free handouts from the government. remember government money comes from taxes. so in effect, they just want to live off someone else's dime. THAT is why we make fun of socialism here.

and 'open borders' shit where you can't screen the immigrants coming into your country is the exact opposite of quality control. i don't hate anyone based on skin color but i also don't want other countries criminals and their people who fail to contribute to society

yeah, exploding-heads. per announcement EH is going permanently offline after 8/31 since Kapow and others have expressed no confidence in future of lemmy (too easy for admins to censor content that users might be interested in, defed wars, issues with updates that cause lot of headaches for admins, etc).

Some folks are moving to nostr (e.g. https://satellite.earth/n/explodingheads) but others have stated they have no interest in moving there and will probably drift to other sites. I did see you had a narwhal.city account but wasn't sure if you posted the same kind of things over there or not. Hadn't been aware of that kbin instance, so thanks - will bookmark

Fair enough. Obviously, once good people are back in power, it would be easy enough to sort out loopholes and make it harder for this kind of thing to happen going forward.

But how would you propose to correct the problem in the short-term without stooping to their level or caving to their demands? Having JP move to the US / out of Canada seems to me to just be running away from the problem rather than meeting it head on.

yeah that part wasn't so great. i guess the thing I liked about her was pointing out the limitations of what the position of president can actually do. I feel like a lot of the debate is basically what amounts to "I'm for this" but realistically if you had house or senate packed with dems, then a republican pres would still be pretty limited. was just refreshing to see someone actualy acknowledge that i guess.

But like I said, wasn't my 1st or 2nd pick or anything.

some advice i got secondhand from a fren's therapist was to try to do at least one thing different from your normal routine everyday just to break established patterns. drive a different route, exercise, clean something you don't have to, try something new for dinner, reach out to a buddy or relative you haven't talked to in a bit, whatever. friend had been going thru depression when he got the advice but i tihnk its good regardless. i just need to kick myself in the ass and actually follow it lol

i listened to one of the jordan peterson audiobooks last year and it had some similar stuff in there. i think one of the examples was if you had let your paperwork pile up and were overwhelmed by the task, then start off with 1 or 2, just do some small piece and force yourself to come back to it and keep doing small pieces. probably can be adapted to a lot of stuff but my brain is shutting down for the day and can't really think

another friend swears by getting a dog. i've thought about doing that too. if you actually take them out to dog parks, exercise, etc could even add to social aspect. i like big dogs but am horribly lazy. especially since i'd probably want a retired police dog or something similar

One of the things that I have noticed pretty consistently is that the woke tards always fail to consider how resorting to underhanded tactics could backfire and be used against them.

For example, the way I'm reading this, doesn't this that mean people can basically lodge complaints without being patients of the psychologists or even residents of Canada? And if so, then couldn't people make similar complaints against the people who have been assigned as educators (and presumably are woke tards), e.g. "Dr. Erika Abner, LLM, LLB, Ph.D, or Gail Siskind, RN, MA" and more importantly against the board members pushing this idiocy, e.g. the Ontario College of Psychologists?

Would be kind of funny to suddenly see hundreds or even thousands of complaints lodged against people who are trying to bring him to task over a mere dozen or so.

if you use it from the browser, it's pretty easy as long as you save a copy of your private key somewhere (websites will offer to create it for you). if you lose it, then its equivalent to forgetting your password, except there's no password reset - basically you'd just have to create a new account.
