Langfristiges Denken

i don't think it's likely that other nations will take out trump through a world war, as happened with hitler in WW2.
this is largely because i believe that other countries entered WW2 to stop hitler because they were getting attacked, or feared they were about to be attacked next. if trump doesn't outright attack other countries, i see little reason for other countries to use military force to stop the US or trump.

well, the interesting thing is that Karl Marx himself supported worker's right to bear arms, funnily enough.
knowing this, i've completely changed my point of view on firearms. yes, they do a lot of harm and definitely should be dealt with cautiously. and also it's completely beyond any meaningful stance that facebook allows pictures of firearms, but not naked breasts.
but apart from that, the issue of firearms is more interesting than it seems at first glance, and i guess a re-evaluation is warranted.

Well i'm not sure whether it's the tyranny they were always talking about.
after all, the US is sometimes incredibly racist, and these voices are influential rn. so it's not surprising that there isn't really a lot of loud voices invoking the 2nd amendment rn. especially not from the trump supporters.

rabbit stew 🤤

I think "personhood" refers to the ability to sign contracts though. It has nothing to do with voting.

The problem is with humanity giving up control to machines.
I mean, humanity (especially in the West) has already given up large amounts of power to corporate CEOs, which can be modelled as soulless machines well enough, but installing AI would take it even one step further.

"personhood" by the law only refers to the ability to sign contracts.
companies and states already have that.
what you're talking about is a "natural person".

I'll have you informed that Switzerland already has a wealth tax (0.5% annually) and they manage to assess total wealth somehow.

It even specifically talks about the case of paintings.

It’s game over for people if AI gains legal personhood

it's worth a try, and better than doing nothing.

i believe that hell essentially codifies not the principle of torment, but actually stagnation, which, to many people, is a form of torment.

i'm not believing that since i remember reading that the concept of heaven/hell is essentially the idea of dualism that is older than judaism itself, even, at least dating back to zoroastrianism, which existed in the middle east already at the time that judaism was formed.

10 million total wealth
sounds reasonable IMO

but why not?

want to do business and earn money in this country? guess what, you gotta pay taxes here.

is roughly the same
the first results in 0.5, the second one in ~0.6.
but you're right, from an analysis point of view.

wages can go lower, but what will the people eat?
the people would need subsidies by the rich, which hurts the economy!
tax the rich! no handouts to the rich while the citizens struggle!

"ambitious mothers" are one of the horsemen of the apocalypse
What i mean with the title is: Mothers often feel as if they can't be successful themselves, due to their role as a mother. So, they try to make their child(ren) "successful" in their place. What that entails is a strict, hierarchical upbringing and a lot of "discipline" for the child(ren). As a direct consequence, the child(ren) have significantly reduced Quality Of Life, to the point of many committing suicide, and as such they are definitely a thing that can end lifes, or personal worlds (for the children). As such, they are clearly one of the "horsemen of the apocalypse".

am i stupid or are solar panel's efficiency independent on latitude
Consider the following drawing:

I take it that solar panel's generated electricity would be the same whether it's installed in scandinavia or africa, as long as it faces in the same direction? or am i stupid
i'm asking this because everywhere i hear how "solar panels have higher efficiency near the equator", but that's just not true. Maps such as these are common on the internet:

And they suggest that solar energy around the equator would be twice as available as on northern latitudes, but actually that's just the solar irradiation if the panels weren't inclined, but in practice, they were likely will be. So they receive similar amounts of power.
edit: so, it's the cloud cover. got it; thanks :D

Research finds that porn-related problems are predominantly caused by religious conflict. Clinically, this means people need help, but not necessarily with the porn.

What does it mean that religion, not porn use, predicts porn-related problems?

Interesting channel. They talk about solar power and how it replaces coal power, and what that means for climate warming until 2100.
Spoiler: The "business as usual" climate model significantly overestimates climate warming until 2100, and it will probably be much much less severe.

I work full time at a grocery store. I show up, do what’s asked of me, make sure the product is good quality, treat customers with respect, and work decently hard for at least 75% of the time.
I’m not lazy. I get my work done. But I’m not emotionally invested, and I have no desire to go above and beyond for a job that sees me as replaceable. I was offered a promotion recently, but the raise was only $1 more an hour. I turned it down because:
- That raise is laughable for the extra responsibility they wanted to dump on me.
- I know myself, I simply don’t care enough to manage or lead other people.
I don’t care about delegating to part-timers. I don’t care about store numbers. I don’t care what my coworkers are doing. If someone takes an extra-long break? Don’t care. If they call out and I’m left alone? Don’t care.
And I know this might be an unpopular opinion, but even if someone half-asses something and it ends up making more work for me, it still doesn’t bother me. The way I see

Artificial Scarcity
