Leading rally team boss Malcolm Wilson has been nominated as the new deputy president for sport at motorsport's governing body the FIA.
The 69-year-old has been chosen by FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem to replace Robert Reid, who resigned two weeks ago.
FIA members will vote on Wilson's nomination at the organisation's General Assembly in Macau in June.
Wilson, a former British rally champion, is the managing director of M-Sport, which has run Ford's world rally championship programme since 1997.
This, and his overtake at the end of the Australian race, shows just how good he is.
Fresh power units in both Ferraris, with Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton moving on to their second PUs for the year.
Feel like if Max was to leave at the end of this year, it would be to also to leave F1. Most sensible thing to do would be to wait see who's good in 2026.

Proposal to bring back V10 engines set to be rejected
A proposal to bring back V10 engines to Formula 1 is set to be rejected by the sport's engine manufacturers next week.
The opposition of Honda and Audi alone is enough to torpedo the plan. With Mercedes also against the idea of abandoning hybrids, it appears to have no chance of success, even though Red Bull and Ferrari are said to back the idea.
The session was interupted a lot so probably not that representative of where Yuki actually is.
Yuki Tsunoda's telling first Red Bull RB21 verdict after swapping sim for real deal
Yuki Tsunoda got his first taste of the Red Bull RB21 in Friday practice at Suzuka, where he put in a commendable first showing.
"A little bit more than I expected in terms of the car feeling. I knew anyway it was always going to be a bit different in the real car, and it was a little bit more exaggerated in the real car. It’s feeling a bit more tricky.
“I think we can say today was ok, but it could have been better. FP1 was better than FP2, I gained a lot more learnings. We didn’t set a lap time in FP2 due to the number of stops in the session, you could maybe call the session a shambles for everyone. Overall, it is ok, and I am happy to have confidence in the car.
“We still have some work to do, and we have a lot to explore in the data before tomorrow.”
Sounds a bit desperate, basically spooked by their performance in Australia.
“In order to get the parts here, we had to really shortcut the process – whether it’s going to make one-percent difference or 50-percent difference, honestly, I cannot say,” he said.
“Depending on what we see, it could be as bad as Melbourne, or it could be even better than Shanghai. I think FP1 the key for us; as soon as we do a lap or as soon as we go through sector one, we will know if it’s going to be like Melbourne or not.”
“We had to bring something, we couldn’t come here with the same car as Melbourne and just hope for the best.
“We just wanted to take as much in our control as possible. That’s just a judgement call in terms of risk management to shortcut that process.”
When asked how the process of bringing the floor differed to that of a more usual process, Komatsu explained: “Honestly, we just relied on our aero guys and designers’ understanding to make certain modifications.
“So certain things are geometrically different and aerodynamically different as well.
“We just put everyone’s latest understanding, without any proof, because we had to design it, we had to release it, we had to make it – otherwise we weren’t going to make it here.
“So, we had to do it. But then, respectively we put it in the windtunnel, to see if that idea is actually correct or not.
“It is correct. It’s definitely the right direction. But I just don’t know how much difference it’s going to make.”
Perhaps!?
What utter bullshit

Fred Vasseur plans FOM talks after ‘joke’ Lewis Hamilton message broadcast
Fred Vasseur called out FOM for trying to "create the mess" at Ferrari by only broadcasting a handful of Lewis Hamilton's messages in China.
But given that the suggestion to swap positions actually came from Hamilton to start with, Vasseur has called out FOM for trying to create drama.
“I think this is a joke from FOM because the first call came from Lewis,” he told the media in Shanghai. “Lewis asked us to swap, but to make the show, to create the mess around the situation, they broadcast only the second part of the question.
“I will discuss with them.”
The Ferrari team boss revealed Ferrari had already spoken with the drivers about doing what is “best” for Ferrari in the pre-race briefing.
“Yeah,” he insisted. “I think we have to work for the team and to consider that we have to do the best for Ferrari, and it’s agreed between the cars and the drivers before the race, and it’s not an issue.
“It’s even the best proof of this is that it came from the drivers that ‘okay, I’m losing the pace that I am keen to swap’.”

Because I like neck ache
Really wish they would continue showing the race after the winner crosses the win. Yeah it's nice seeing the team celebrate, but there was still stuff going on. I wanted to see how close Russell was at the hairpin and how Hadjar was doing against Doohan.

Formula 1's stakeholders have reportedly discussed the possibility of abandoning the F1 2026 rules in order to bring back V10 engines.
One unnamed ‘insider’ is quoted saying: “The manufacturers who are putting the most pressure on [to drop the new rules] are those who already know that they are behind schedule with their 2026 engine.”
It is said that Ferrari and Red Bull are thought to be among those in favour of a V10 return.
However, a decision to delay the 2026 rules would likely leave Red Bull in trouble as the team have no engine in place to compete under the current regulations.
Red Bull’s newly established engine division, Red Bull Powertrains, has been working on a 2026 power unit in conjunction with US giants Ford ahead of Honda’s switch to Aston Martin from next season.
Audi F1 would be faced with the same predicament with the German manufacturer working solely on an engine for the 2026 rules.
