  • I hope tab groups gets worked on soon 🤞🏼

  • I'm on the third book in the Wayfarer Series by Becky Chambers. It's excellent 👌

  • Western suburbs of Chicago, IL. Summer it's 77-79f (25-26c). Winter it's 65-69f (18.3-20.5c).

In summer we open the windows at night and let the cooler air in and when the sun comes in I close the windows and run a dehumidifier to quickly bring down the relative temp upstairs especially. Helps a bunch.

When our new kid comes I will have to def adjust these numbers much closer to 72f (22c).

I was talking to friends who live nearby and essentially keep it at 72f (22c) year round and almost never open their windows they were using like 1040kwh-1600kwh per month last month where we were using 309kwh or about 50 bucks a month. This was for July. I think we may be the weirdos and we will have to get more on their level with a newborn.

  • Other than the same memories you all have of being sick and watching during elementary school, when I was older my friend and I had off campus privilege in high school and we would go to her house quick where her grandma would make us sandwiches and we would watch him the price is right.

  • Aurora il is 115 feels like. 2nd floor is a bit too hot.

  • jokes on them i use an extension that removes the home page and any recommendations on the site.

  • I use jeroba and I would at least love the option to turn off infinite scroll

  • midwest.social is chill

  • Yep. Browser is also where you can play the beta patch when it's going on and you can play as a guest.

  • i would use this but some of the channels i watch the most number their thumbnails and dont do clickbait like this. if i could pick and choose per channel somehow it would be more helpful to me. i do agree with the sentiment though!

  • "Money I got, time I don't."

My dad said this offhanded joking remark to me 30 years ago and it lives rent free in my head. It's a privileged view point for sure but I took it to mean save and be prepared but don't be frugal toa detriment. Spend on things you love and spend away on things you hate. Don't waste time if you can afford not to.

open source baby activity tracking app

im a soon to be dad and was looking through those apps and was disturbed by how much some of them cost or require subscription for features. this looks simple and easy enough to start out with when the time comes. hopefully it helps someone else too.

  • This super relevant to me. Just looking through all those apps in the store and how annoyingly they push subscription and in app purchases of dozens of dollars for basic features. Thanks for this. Hopefully more new parents find this.

  • I hated using a dating app back in the day. I can't imagine using it for fun or validation. At least okcupid had fun dumb quizzes.

  • This is too easy to hit on accident. If your phone freezes and you try to turn on the screen too many times in rapid succession - boom 911

  • It was like 92 or 93 and my dad brought home a computer and didn't know what it could be used for so they just let 7 year old me mess around on it. My year older cousin told me that we could use it to talk to him using instant messaging. When I showed my parents they were blown away.

Also when I realized the computer they bought had bundled with it DOOM. That was great!

  • Jrock, specifically The Pillows, which lead to dozens of other jrock band discoveries. I don't listen to it much anymore but it defined me and my friends from the years 16-26
