  • I swear I remember there being a website dedicated to documenting laptops and other hardware linux compatibility. Someone here must know what I'm talking about.

  • The internet tankies are just a small, mostly self-isolating group of authoritarian west-haters who wank each other off about how much theory they've read. They do not reach out to engage with the rest of the internet for any other reason than because their usual circlejerk spankbank ran dry and they need to refill it with new material. That entails baiting unsuspecting people into arguing with them by spouting rehearsed and reused, easily disproven talking point so the unsuspecting person is engaged with them for a few replies until they're deep enough into a comment thread that nobody else is going to read it. That's when their friends show up and they begin jerking each other off over you.

If you get to this point, you lost. Further replies add to their spankbank. Not replying proves them right and adds to their spankbank.

The only winning move is not to reply.

  • Why are you even using flatpak if its core usecase offends you?

  • I'm a nobody who cares - I'm important address me by my full name and position - You know who I am <------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->

  • Yes, that's the point.

  • It's how Tor works. You have to publish your relay's address or else other relays can't find you. You can host a private/hidden guard node, but not an exit or relay.

  • TOR is just slightly harder to keep up on as far as being listed on the same tables as commercial VPN hosts because it’s so dynamic. Anyone can spin up a node and be a relay or, for the brave/foolish, an exit node in a few minutes.

Actually Tor relays and exits are published, public knowledge and you will be on every list that cares about listing those within hours of spinning up a relay or exit.

  • Gad godt de uddybede hvad han egentlig gjorde for at stå ud.

  • No, the article says the exact opposite. The proposed problem is that less satellites de-orbit on schedule because atmospheric drag is reduced. Debris and derelict satellites stay in LEO for longer than they were scheduled to, and will be scheduled to stay in space longer in the future. Both of these factors significantly reduce the ability of LEO to 'carry' more satellites. This is amplified massively by mega constellations such as Starlink, but it's probably to their benefit; they get to keep their expensive littering satellites in service for longer and will use less of the expensive argon to maintain their orbit.

  • Took an angle grinder to a mini-ITX case to fit a full ATX size board in it.
The board is resting unsecured on an anti-static bag and has a few mm of wiggleroom.
The powersupply is resting, unsecured to anything, on top of the PCIe lanes.
The rear fan is pressed up against the back grill by cables.
The harddrives are just kinda chilling where-ever.
The cables are routed with hopes and dreams.

This is a hypervisor and is the backbone of all my infrastructure.

  • What is photo sorting? I do not know what Shotwell or DigiKam is.

My workflow (Linux) is I open a file manager on my SD card and let it generate thumbnails. Then I quickly nuke all of the obviously unusable pictures. Then I do another pass where I actually open and look at the images and nuke the ones with flaws I don't want to or can't fix. Then I pull everything remaining into Darktable and play around with the most interesting pictures I took to get them done and finished while I'm motivated and then I'll look at the rest to see if I can make something interesting of them else they get deleted and the cycle begins anew.

  • Thank you for providing a link to the original; catbox continues to be blocked for many

  • Everything I can see about this project still puts it far ahead of WiGLE- using OSM and not an outdated API key for gmaps, a website developed in this century, etc

  • This is awesome. I tried WiGLE some years back and they wouldn't let me pull much data out at all despite contributing so I'm into this.

  • Oh yeah everything on manual. AF and Stabilizer off. Overexpose the first shot by a huge margin and don't you dare touch the camera once it's set up because even at 70mm that'll misalign everything so use a remote shutter or the built-in timelapse function that Canon has made so inconvenient to use that I chose to sit and click manually with a timer on my phone.

    Ballmount bracket predicament

The bottom of this ballmount can rotate.

The bracket is attached with a screw to the bottom of the ballmount and requires rotation to unscrew.

The screw is so tight that, even with the ballmount rotation locked, it still just rotates the ballmount.

I can't clamp the sides of the ballmount bottom as it is too fragile.

Surely I am not the first person in the world to have this problem. Is there a trick to getting this loose?

I tried leaving it in the fridge, hoping it would shrink enough to come loose or something but no dice.

Thank you for your time, feel free to laugh at me.
