Discussion for episode 3, season 2 The well

Seeing as no one else has opened a discussion thread for this episode yet, in the words of thanos "Fine, I'll do it myself."

  • No, apparently RTD had the idea of a cartoon character coming to life for years including when he had his first run but according to him, the technology to do this episode wasn't available (even though roger rabbit was a thing but don't tell RTD that)

  • Honestly I think that was a great tactic on the marketing front. I was expecting the second half to be animated so when they get out of it, I was wondering where we could go from there and turns out the answer is make the villain a Kaiju which I wasn't expecting at all. Been a long time since Doctor Who surprised me.

    And pitch meeting references are tight

    I like long walks and walking on the beach

  • Was it the best episode of Doctor Who I've seen? No but it wasn't the worst and seems a return to form to Doctor Who. Belinda has more personality and character development in one episode than Ruby had in a entire series. The every ninth word sequence felt like RTD trying to do a mofffat scene and it worked well. Also the Doctor laughing at Alan basically getting killed by the polish polish robot was way out of character especially after even offering to save Alan from the pain he was in and if chibnall wrote that scene he would get so much flack but RTD is seemingly getting a pass for it at least in the online circles I'm in.

  • It was a soft reboot but it's still the same run. The disney run is still nuwho because people are celebrating the 20th anniversary of nuwho which includes the disney doctors and that is confirmed through official promos for the anniversary and not a site run by fans. Source

  • There's no guarantee that it would come back a third time though. Clamouring for a hiatus is pretty much clamouring for a cancellation now because you now have a show that was cancelled two times due to a whole load of issues and I don't think it would be worth the risk for anyone to try it because it could just fail a third time.

    Also IMO, you should absolutely try out the rest of the Capaldi era. It's my favourite era and it's the best nuwho ever's been .World Enough and Time /The Doctor Falls/Twice Upon a time is actually a perfect finale for Doctor Who and is where it stops for me.

  • Well that sucks if this series of Doctor Who turns out to be the last. There are leaks going around that point to a cliffhanger but there are also leaks that say there is a open ended regen.

    Also I would disagree with Russell that no good idea ever dies. Unfortuanly there are good ideas that can die. The terminator franchise being a sci fi example as well so it's not improable that this current series of Doctor Who may be the last ever series which is wow. Well WW3 is on the horizon anyway just this time without the farting aliens

  • Youtube Alternatives are only going to start taking off is that alternative is willing to pay content creators enough for them at least a liveable wage. And it needs to be stable Odysee's payment system relies on other people and tips are unstable at the best of times. A youtube alternative has got to have a better payment system than relying on strangers to tip the creator.

    Aliens of London/World war three

    In the Doctor Who two parter, aliens of london/world war three The Doctor and Rose encounter the siltheen, an alien species that infiltrated 10 downing street to ruin the earth and sell it for rocket fuel. The siltheen can be destroyed by vinegar because they are a calcium based species.

    ::: spoiler spoiler

    ::: Um Actually The Siltheen is not the name of the species. It's a family name. The actual species name is Raxacoricofallapatorians, other familes include the blathereen and Hamazeen
