“Books were only one type of receptacle where we stored a lot of things we were afraid we might forget. There is nothing magical in them, at all. The magic is only in what books say, how they stitched the patches of the universe together into one garment for us.” Professor Faber

  • That’s not true, but don’t think folks should be downvoting you.

I literally bring a physical book with me everywhere I go. I brought my 600+ page book to the hair salon last night so I could read while I waited. I usually have a small book of short stories in my purse so I can read whenever I want. Part of what I love about books is they come in all sizes so they can be taken everywhere.

  • I’m an elder millennial and I tend to stay on my phone a bit much too. Since I wake up 2-3 hours before I have to do anything, I switch out at least an hour of scrolling in the morning for reading a book. I require my purses to be big enough to fit a book so I can bring one with me everywhere I go. I even brought my giant ass book to my haircut so I could read it while I waited.

Don’t feel bad, it’s something that too many of us do. Maybe try switching for a book or graphic novel or something.

  • I’ve been intentionally avoiding spoilers and previews, so I had no idea it was coming. It was a really happy surprise for me and that episode was so great.

I absolutely adore Sam’s smile, just beautiful!

  • That episode is my favorite one so far. It was such a great homage to DS9 and I loved seeing adult Jake.

I also super love that they are bringing back the skirt uniform. Jay-Den rocked that outfit! 💚

  • I love this movie and I will never stop recommending it

  • I feel like Jupiter Ascending would have been such a good book

  • You are not the only one! I love smoking a joint on Saturdays and getting into a sink full of dishes. It’s just very relaxing.

  • Another Expanse character, but I would pick Detective Miller.

I know he’s a grump. I know he’s an ass with a drinking problem. But I love his hair and style in the show. His hair especially.

    It’s all about his hair.

That long ass mohawkish hair 🤤

  • Hell yeah! Drummer is so awesome!

  • I’ve read both and highly enjoyed both. I read The Martian after I saw the movie and I still recommend it even if you saw the movie already

  • That series is the one series I wish I could read all over for the first time again. I hope you enjoy the ride!

  • Still working my way through The Secret Commonwealth by Philip Pullman. I’m about 80% through now, I’ve been reading less than usual this week with life stuff going on.

I really enjoyed Redshirts by John Scalzi. I enjoy pretty much everything I’ve read of his, but Kaiju Preservation Society is still my favorite.

  • I recently took a trip to a thrift store and found a bunch of cds in excellent condition. Lately I’ve been listening to these albums, all thrift pickups:

    • American Idiot by Green Day
    • Tragic Kingdom by No Doubt
    • Pickin’ Up The Pieces by Fitz and the Tantrums
    • Almo Sounds by Ozomatli
    • New Beginning and Crossroads by Tracy Chapman
  • My bunnies always bring me joy. They each do something every day that makes me smile.

When I get the box of hay each evening, my boy Lion-O will meet me at the end of the hallway. He nudges my ankles and then follows me to the hay bin where they each wait for me to give them a hay flower.

Every morning, my tiny girl Poppy jumps on the couch for tabby time (vitamin tablets). She hops onto my chest and shoulder while she eats her tabby. She so small and precious, it’s my favorite time of day.

Also, each morning when I come downstairs, they are waiting there because they know thy get breakfast when I wake up even before I start my coffee. When I have their plate of greens and walk towards where they eat it, Poppy does zoomies and binkies all over because she gets so excited.

Bunnies are just pure joy 💚

  • I saw Phantom of the Opera on Broadway in NYC so that’s a top one for me.

My favorite is Repo the Genetic Opera. I really enjoy that one.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I love anything Gene Kelly, that man’s butt is amazing!

  • I used to have a 2 cats who did and both of those girls looked just like your cat

  • I love mine too. It’s great for my back, but I get why others find them uncomfortable.

  • I literally had this reaction from a someone recently. I commented that I had trouble installing a specific program, so I switched back to windows for now. I was not looking for advice, it was just a post asking about recent Windows user’s experience switching to Linux, so I shared my experience and that I had the intention to try again because I want off Windows.

Dude commented like I’m just a dumb dumb who didn’t follow the numerous instructions online (I did) because it’s so easy to install on Linux (doesn’t change my issue) that their mom could do it (again, still doesn’t change that I had issues).

I’ll be trying again soon, but I can understand why some folks would be turned off of Linux because of that.

  • I had a book called Generation T that was a lot of using existing shirts to change a look, which is what I really like to do vs following a pattern. There was also a couple in the early 2000s who do a lot of DIY videos and encouraged people who use what they already had to create new things. I can’t remember their channels name right now, but they were around for a while.

My MIL has offered to get me a sewing machine, but I need to focus on it first. Too many hobbies 😁
