Given everything you have seen since Trump took office, do you think they don't want a government shutdown? RN so much of what the administration is doing is illegal, Democrats have no legislative power to curb that, but they can keep receipts and deal with it in two years. If the government shuts down, the administration will have the actual authority to decide what is "critical" and will furlough the rest until they all are forced to quit and find other work. A government shutdown effectively does the job they want done, and they get to blame the Democrats for it at their leisure.
This is why I argue that the height of the rim should be based on the average height of the competing teams.

Interesting. I had always understood McCarthyism as only the red scare, and I assumed it was how it was always used.
Here's an idea, the more complicated your taxes the more expensive it is to file. So most people pay nothing, but people who have the opportunity to scam the system have to pay enough to cover the people to investigate their filing.
I would argue it is not McCarthyism. McCarthyism would he specifically using people's political ideologies as a metric, whereas sexuality is a personal private thing that would have absolutely no effect on the ability to do a job. At least McCarthyism has some way to claim that "commie" is actively working against the interests of the US.
My point is that what you posted as evidence bigotry is not really very strong. Certainly, if that joke was posted by a bigot it would be punching down. But otherwise it is just a normal situational joke.
