  • Yeah wearing sneakers with a business casual attire is acceptable as long as the colors are pretty conservative and the shoes are clean.

Today I was wearing a dark pink polo shirt with navy blue chino pants with a gray belt and my gray suede sneakers. That's fine.

  • The New Balance 574. I've tried replacing them with similar shoes from other brands, even Asics which are considered good. But, nothing feels better on me feet.

They have a great sole that's just right. Not too hard that it'll hurt your whole back, knees and feet, but not too soft that you'll sink heel first into them either.

The heel is raised just a little which seems to relieve a lot of tension in my lower back. It also supports my feet's arch which relieves tension in my feet also. They're usually pretty durable, though I found the build quality to have decreased in the past 5 years. The sole also doesn't last as long as it used to.

  • I'd still read the novel. Atlas Shrugged would be my choice. It would be like reading the Mein Kampf. But all for education purposes, and to see how absurd it all really is.

By the way, the First Testament was a fucked up read. So violent. So gory. I still haven't gotten around to read the New Testament, but it's in my to-do list.

  • At 16 I certainly would have voted like my parents because they had made me think the same way they did and any other way was wrong.

In hindsight, every choice they made was the wrong choice that brought in further conservative politics, austerity and the destruction of our social safety net.

  • I mean, had more people voted with their convictions rather than trying to beat the conservatives, we would still have ended up with a very weak minority conservative government with a stronger NDP, which wouldn't have been that bad.

The Liberals and the NDP would've had to form a coalition and the NDP would've had a much stronger influence. They could have worked together to pass bills that improve our society and empower the middle-class, whether the Conservatives like it or not.

OR, if the Liberals had aligned with the Conservatives, then you would have seen an uproar, especially because of the current geopolitical context.

But we definitely need to give the NDP and the Greens more space. I hope people will remember that in the next elections.

I certainly am very disappointed in Carney's government, but I'm not surprised at all. I knew this would happen and I don't know what people expected out of an actual establishment world banker.

  • I used to be like that. I just get so tied from work, seeing computers and software all day and having to constantly learn new technology that at home I'm just looking for something that doesn't change too much and is familiar.

  • I've been using Ubuntu/Kubuntu since 2004 and I've always been happy and had very little problems.

It's a good, no hassle distro that works and is fairly up to date, especially if you use the non-LTS ones. I prefer staying with LTS though. At least my OS is stable and I don't have to spend my free time troubleshooting anything.

  • I'm sorry but all of that is a big ass load of bullshit. No matter how you try to sugarcoat it.

First you talk about a coup, then you say it isn't. Then you attack Zelensky because he was an actor, completely disregarding what he's been able to do with the difficult situation he's in. Arnold Schwarzenegger was also an actor but was a great politician and was a great governor for California as far as Republicans go. So that's not a good reason to discredit someone. In fact, anybody can go into politics and become great.

His presidential term may have ended a year ago, but how the fuck do you conduct an election when a chunk of your country is under foreign occupation? There are usually measures in place in constitutions for times of war, and guess what? THEY'RE AT WAR!

I tried to keep an open mind about this and your article and watched your videos, but you're over the edge. You're irrational. I'm not gonna have this argument anymore. I'm done.

  • So I actually took the time to read those articles and watch the video. Now I'm not well informed on past Ukrainian politics, but none of them talk of Zelensky. Which I think was elected democratically and not put in power via a coup.

And honestly, if I had to pick between a pro-Russian and a pro-US government in that area of the world, I'd pick a pro US one for sure. It's the least worst choice.

Using a PGP key with email

Hello, I want to use a PGP key with my Proton mail account.

I was wondering how using PGP works exactly. Does it encrypt the whole email message? Or is it only a signature to prove it's origin?

How does it affect recipients if they don't have my public key? Or how do I share that key securely?
