Lol no, I wasn't asking you to look at the timing in the notices, I meant look at which routes aren't affected. Those routes that weren't mentioned meant they were serviced by Brahim's. Yours not being mentioned meant very likely back then it was one of those covered by that contract, and that explained why it sucks.
Yep - if based on these notices, this is an affected route in the revision = served by the Brahim's contract - https://www.malaysiaairlines.com/my/en/experience/in-flight-offerings/revised-in-flight-meal.html; https://www.malaysiaairlines.com/au/en/mh-media-centre/important-for-you/inflight-food-beverage-services.html
Which route? The ones that're still with full service are apparently the ones that's always been serviced by their in-house catering. The rest all under Brahim's contract which mmg gone downhill
Ello - been away for quite a bit - who wants to baca my short review of the MAS inflight nasi lemak? https://mefi.social/@cendawanita/111271410172539602

A 33mil population is not a small market. Plus if ASEAN could get their act together and negotiate en bloc the way the EU does, you can go a long way in negotiating for more competitive pricing. The one good thing from the Trans Pacific Partnership being blown up by Trump to me in this matter was the fact that US Big Pharma-negotiated clauses with regards to market access got blown up too.
Anwar's populism only sounds nice but it would eventually doom poor people and the working class most of all. Where's the taxation reform? The budgeting reallocation? Why is the conversation not at all considering increasing investment in our healthcare system? We're not poor (yet).
Means-testing on healthcare subsidies is such a regressive idea, not to mention scapegoating rich people for accessing public healthcare in our current healthcare system is close to lying considering:
Yep, the actually wealthy have their assets tied up not in personal holdings. By any simple metric that is being thought of, the first impacted are salaried/employed/contracted workers (since taxable income is a usual source of yardstick)
BNM: DuitNow QR payments: Micro and small businesses will continue to enjoy zero-cost transactions; No new costs for individual customers
I've seen anecdotes (with evidence of emails or a BFM tweet) that banks are starting to charge transaction fee for duitnow transactions. I haven't seen anything from CIMB but I've seen RHB and OCBC. Anyone else?
Very cool, tqqq
Not pork eater but this reminds me of all the exasperated jokes about orang takde masa slip in secret pork because mahal lah bodoh. Pork and seafood = financial boobytraps at the hawkers/mamaks for sure, it seems like
At this point I feel mostly better (loss of smell though) but clearly get winded very very fast, and considering RTK pun still positive, I might be infectious enough so I don't know if it's worth going out. But stress cos sharing space with family members so I really can't do a lot of the usual chores. Still, impressed by how well my body membiakkan this virus 😑
I'll try and see - or maybe I'm just very ... viral

I would like to agree but considering gendered harassment is historically underreported it just becomes a bean counting measure to not actually provide remedy (of which I think this one should be temporary but the fact that it's being implemented is absolutely an indictment of both society and how little they think of men that they can't believe men cannot self police themselves or how disinterested they are to change norms that encourages this to happen, especially if this fits into their worldview that men and women must be segregated).
More than 45 scholars to present papers at academic conference on K-Pop band BTS
So here's a thing.
Organised by the International Society for BTS Studies (ISBS) and Universiti Malaya (UM), the upcoming fourth edition conference in 2023 to be hosted by Malaysia is scheduled to be held for the first time in Southeast Asia from 16-17 Aug.
In an interview with Bernama recently, UM's Department of East Asian Studies of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Associate Professor Dr Jimmyn Parc said as this year marks the 40th anniversary of South Korea's inclusion in the Look East Policy (LEP), the conference is dubbed as a vital component of the "New LEP".

Selangor 'Fake Joint Venture' Raises Questions For Azmin Ali
From article:
Following a police report issued by a Selangor based contractor named Haizal bin Hanif last week, Sarawak Report has been passed an extensive dossier containing what appears to be significant new evidence relating to a scandal that broke in July 2019 over alleged multi-million ringgit kickbacks paid in return for a major ‘direct nego’ development project, supposedly in a joint venture with the state government.
The courts have concluded the so-called Salak Tinggi housing project, involving 100 acres and projected to be worth RM600 million, was a fraudulent scheme that had not in fact been authorised by the state government as believed by the developer.
However, the evidence, if true, indicates that many senior political figures, including the former MB Azmin Ali, were seeking to push through the project from as early as 2016 in return for purported political donations.

Call for Short Historical Fiction featuring Lim Chin Siong as a minor but vital character – New Naratif
In Singapore and beyond, there has been a quickening of interest in the anticolonial and socialist struggle of the 50s and 60s.

From the link:
In Singapore and beyond, there has been a quickening of interest in the anticolonial and socialist struggle of the 50s and 60s after the publications of archival research by historian PJ Thum and of the Eisner-winning graphic novel The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye by Sonny Liew, among other works. The undisputed leader of this historical struggle was the student activist, trade unionist, and politician Lim Chin Siong (LCS), who organised the largest social movement in Singapore to fight for democracy, freedom, and justice. Although this movement ultimately failed, it opens a window into an alternative future for Singapore, Malaysia, and the rest of Asia—a window that creative writers with their imaginative powers can help us look at and through.Deadline for submissions is 1 December 2023. There are also introductory material on Lim Chin Siong himself and the historical context he was in.
Zulfadzli Halim just wants an update on his case after getting stonewalled.
A man arrested last November, shortly after he sounded the alarm that inflammatory content was being posted on TikTok, is pleading with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for help.
Zulfadzli Halim is seeking the country’s top leader’s assistance in getting an update on his case, saying that the authorities have reportedly stonewalled him.
His story began on Nov 21 last year, two days after the 15th general election.
Zulfadzli (above) had tweeted about his discovery and concerns that hate speech and racially motivated provocative content - including threats of a repeat of the May 13, 1969 riots - were being posted on the social media platform.
Screenshots and screen recordings taken by him and other netizens led to the discovery that at least three of the provocative content on TikTok had been paid for.
However, in a twist of events, it was Zulfadzli that police acted against, probing him under the Sedition Act - allegedly for insulting the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Putsch attempt underway in Perak- MB
Saarani says plans involve the defection of four elected reps to PN.
got this in my Kini Morning Brief Email.
Summary: Perak MB says there are plans to trigger by-elections in at least four seats by convincing those ADUNs to defect to PN - no other details given.
[...] Saarani after a meeting with 33 Perak legislative assembly government members at the Impiana Hotel in Ipoh, Perak yesterday, according to Sinar Harian.
"We are gathered today because we don't want suspicion among the 33 assemblypersons and ensure their loyalty to the state government."
The Perak legislative assembly has 59 members, with 26 seats held by the opposition. They must win at least four more seats through by-elections to govern the state.
Like most states, Perak has enacted laws that will trigger a by-election if an incumbent lawmaker defects.

“It’s your government, yet you can’t even control the Home Ministry. I sell books that are not listed in the banned book list.

(BFM podcast) How Class Solidarity Can Heal Racial/Religious Polarisation
Ethnonationalism, religious nationalism, neo-fascism and other forms of right-wing and ultra conserv
Episode description: Ethnonationalism, religious nationalism, neo-fascism and other forms of right-wing and ultra conservative populist movements are on the rise, in Malaysia and across the globe.
From the growing popularity of PAS and Perikatan Nasional in Malaysia, Narendra Modi and his Hindu Nationalist project in India, to strongman Donald Trump or the Evangelical Christians of the Republican Party in the US, and the anti-immigration Marine Le Pen in France, the list goes on and on. This has led to massive polarisation across ethnic and religious lines.
While each country and region has its own unique historical and sociopolitical contexts, one can’t help but wonder what are the parallels that can be drawn. Why are we polarised and could class struggle be a remedy? We speak to Assistant Professor Peter Beattie, Political Economist and Political Psychologist, Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).
