  • Every estimate I've seen is 6-12 months before they run out. (different people give different estimates, both for what they have, and for how fast they will use them up) . Numbers have been around 60 most days for as long as I've been following this. (some days much lower, some higher, but 60 is close to typical)

  • Russia has nuclear bombs that can reach the US. While they have a lot of "red lines" that have turned out not to be, it seems likely that hitting Moscow would be a real red line and the end the world.

Europe has the same ability to strike Russia that way, they don't for similar reasons.

  • What do you mean running out? Depending on the source they are able to make 1-3 tanks per days (old Soviet tanks in good shape are all gone, but they still can restore some of the bad ones and they are making brand new ones). However they still have a lot of tanks in use, just that if they lose one they can't replace it, but can be used.

Most other equipment they still have a lot of old soviet stocks that are in "change the oil and a few other minor things and go" condition. Depending on what equipment you are talking about though they are running to the end of that.

  • Us should have tariffs only on Russia and China. Those would do great good in attacking the greatest evils. No country is perfect, but the issues with most countries are tiny details that should be worked out in less blunt ways.

  • But it matters to the larger picture of voters who vote "for the lesser evil". If you like ONE thing Trump stands for (if you don't you don't know everything he stands for) and decided that was enough to vote for him, then those others things can be important enough to vote for someone else. If you vote for Trump the person, or Trump the Republican: then it doesn't matter. However there are still more than enough voters who vote for issues as to change the next election.

  • That is today. Even if true, the grid sees this demand and they are looking to meet it. So next year things will be different.

Though a good salesman wants repeat sales and so if he things you will be unhappy he won't sell it. Thus selling the cheaper thing now and hoping you come back in a few years when the grid is better is the right thing for him.

Assuming of course that your grid is allowed to keep up. Vermont isn't on the ocean, but it is close enough to get offshore wind from neighboring states. Trump seems to be shutting that down, and so the area should refuse to provide enough power since their best option isn't allowed. (building coal would be allowed, but it is uneconomical) Write your congressman to make sure wind is unblocked. I don't know how windy Vermont is, but in state wind is likely an option if allowed. Likewise there is some solar potential though it isn't a great location.

I'm lucky enough to live in a location where all my power comes from Wind.

  • Angles other than 90 degrees can look cool, but since the rest of your furniture is built around things with 90 degree angles, having them in your house generally wastes a lot of space.

  • You can run docker in docker. I do that all the time (but via scripts so I know it does docker in docker, but I don't know how they do that).

But again, I wasn't even trying to run HA in docker, I was running in a VM container and still the above is refused by default.

  • There is legal lock out, and there is practical lock out. EU countries are going to be looking for other options for the 2% as well. Much of that 2% already doesn't go to the US - there is paying soldiers. There are several different EU tank manufactures and other equipment. The EU is looking how they can bring some what is going to the US away even if it means worse equipment (that is buying 4th generation EU fighters instead of the 5th generation F35)

  • They still can't build F35 and other things, so the I can still make enough money.

Not if the EU buys Griffons from Sweden. In that case the US I makes very little on that deal. The amount made stands to go down if the EU starts building their own jet engines (which they already build some), and computers. Sure today they are still making some money, but not near as much as if they sold the entire F35, and long therm the amount made stands to go down.

  • the MIC is not a single entity. The I part in the US is very big, but they are locked out of the deals in Europe. Thus the MIC in the US objects to this because it hurts them. Things they used to make a ton of money on in the US are things they are not making any money on at all.

  • https://www.home-assistant.io/installation/ Home assistant container - the version for docker - doesn't support add-ons. If you go through a lot of effort you can make it work, but you won't get help. (easiest is to install some linux in the docker and then home assistant supervised on top of that)

There is no reason HAOS couldn't run just fine in a container (qemu not docker), but they intentionally detect that and break it (I tried, I probably could make it work but I don't have that much time)
