Rent strikes exist and have worked. The realities of evicting everyone is slow and costly legal process that can be disrupted in various ways. The point is to make it so costly that ceding to the tenant union's demands become the better choice. There is a book Abolish Rent that goes into some tenet union victories and lessons can be learned from them.
The point is that it’s a class war. It always has been. It’s not about “socialism vs capitalism”...
I really think you should maybe watch some youtube essays on Marxism and what it means, I think you might like the things you learn from it.
Amazing! (commenting so there aren't 88 comments 😤)
You clearly resort to hyperbole because you know how damning their speed is.
Yes, they should have taken less than two and a half years to indite Trump for seditious acts.
After waiting a year to open the investigations, and another year to establish a special counsel, then waiting until August of the next year, 2023 to indite him. Because they took so long he was elected before trial. They didn't charge him with sedition, they didn't stop him from campaigning, and they dismissed the case because "The (Justice) Department’s position is that the Constitution requires that this case be dismissed before the defendant is inaugurated,"
Damn, shucks, darn it, if only they had gotten lucky or maybe started a bit sooner they could have gotten to trial before their 4 years were up, but shucks guess we just have to dismiss this case about someone trying to overthrow our fucking government.
Why didn't Biden appoint a DOJ head that would try him for treason? This was in their power, they didn't need more votes, they saw what happened Jan 6, why didn't they do what needed to be done?
That's fair, I know there is like communities or something, but they seem a bit janky. It's definitely not "there", but it's better than some of it's reputation suggests.
Why didn't Trump get put in prison after Jan 6? Democrats had the power to do it, why didn't they?
So hilarious to come to this discussion a few days later and see every post about this particular failing goes unanswered. Even the ride or die Biden people that seem to still want to die on his hill can't really handle the how much he fumbled it.
People are upset with democrats because they are out played at every step of the game.
Take Biden's approach to student loans. Given unilateral power to abolish and modify student loan debt, they announced it months in advance, giving time for court cases to stall the order. Court cases that were taken to a court they know was stacked against them by the rules broken by previous republicans. So it amounted to nothing. Reinstating debt is tangible harder to do, and given unilateral powers to do so, Biden chose to ignore those and set himself up for failure.
To see where this failure to recognize the political moment we are in leads, he failed to pick someone to imprison Trump for treason after Jan 6.
Depressing to see so many liberals still utterly refusing to understand the point. It's like 'you voted for this' is stuck on loop in their head and they can't comprehend conversation with someone that doesn't apply to.
I remember setting up persistent rooms with jitsi that function like discord rooms, I guess not native, but it was from a plugin that was near native. There was also a feature I remember them mentioning for drop in video calls, but I haven't tried those.
I won't argue it's a full replacement, I think you still can't do push to talk or toggle mute, which is pretty disqualifying for me. But it's definitely closer than Telegram or Lemmy.
Element does have voice/video channels.
Do prosthetics need to read from the whole brain, or can it be well approximated with only certain spots?
Thank fuck. This is the energy we actually need.
We very certainly have moved to a new era of disregard for the law, but in service of understanding how we got here and where the system built power in hopes of breaking it, laws have always been suggestions. The 13th goes into this well, at every step when given leniency the judicial system has been abused to enact more violence and control over people of color. The enforcers are held to minimal standards, and seldom held accountable when they somehow fail to clear the bar in hell.
We need to be honest with ourselves about what this country was and how long it's been unjust.

You have a strange definition of perfection.
They really aren't though.
Sorry I am not hip to the most recent lingo of the circles that call women females.
You need to sit down and learn
