Interesting SSH Authentication Mechanism

OPKSSH (OpenPubkey SSH) is now open-sourced as part of the OpenPubkey project. This enables users and organizations to configure SSH to work with single sign-on technologies like OpenID Connect, removing the need to manually manage & configure SSH keys without adding a trusted party other than your ...

My first exposure to this and supposedly just a two line change to the SSH server configuration.
Anyone set this up on their own servers yet? Just for kicks?

This plasma Cannon is pretty awesome.
Took my Dodge vehicle in for service. They wanted my email address "so they can get in touch with me if I don't answer the phone." I gave it to them.
It took less than half a day for the first spam mail to hit my inbox.

Microplastics are in the rain and tougher to eliminate than acid rain

Here’s why you should never, ever drink the rain.

Oak Grove Community Park to See Development
Oak Grove Community Park is 67 acres and is finally getting funds for real development.
You can see our light pollution fillth from space as well. For a long while now.
Not too many care about that either.

Another Take on the First Railroad Coming to Fort Worth

Citizens came together to ensure that a rail line between Fort Worth and Dallas was completed in 1876 ahead of a deadline set by the Legislature.

At one point Fort Worth's population dropped from 3,000 to 600. Until the unified effort to bring the railroad to the town.

Old Vickery Elementary School Restoration Attempt
The old Vickery Elementary School building, while dilapidated, still has nice bones. Hopefully the Beta Tau Lambda chapter of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity will have success in restoring it.
It's worth a drive-by if you ever get a chance. Walking past and around though is pretty dicey. There's a good supply of derelicts around and some use the place for overnight stays.

Comparisons of Grocery Stores and a few product offerings in Fort Worth
Shoppers tend to stick to a handful of stores they are comfortable with and don’t regularly compare prices. People are creatures of habit, he said, and retail stores take advantage of that.
The retail store can get away by offering you deep discounts on a few items, and they don’t need to offer you frequent discounts.
Security updates should be mandatory. Something like safety recalls on a vehicle.

Big Changes for the Southeast Part of Downtown Fort Worth
Texas A&M. Convention Center. Hotels and Hospitality. Straightening of Commerce Street. Other land redevelopment.

Gateway Park has 8 Million Dollars
And there's an effort to determine how to spend it. Seems you get a (small) voice. Sort of like how Dickies Skate Park off Hemphill came to be.

Fort Worth Home to 2 of 10 Deadliest Texas Highways
You may never want to get on a Fort Worth highway again after reading this study based on an analysis of 10,125 fatal crashes on Texas roads from 2018 to 2020.
I'm not sure exactly where these are and Google Maps doesn't have an easy way to search by exit numbers. If you know, tell us.
- Interstate 20 from exit 443 to exit 449
- Interstate 820 from exit 33C to 33A
Also this is the first time I've realized 820 is an interstate.

Fort Worth is Melting

It's rough here in Fort Worth for the next 10 days. The highs range from 102 to 109 with nighttime temps falling into the upper 70's after another week.

Passport Fair in Fort Worth - August 6
There's a "passport fair" at the Downtown Fort Worth Post Office on Lancaster on Sunday August 6th. These fairs are described as "passport acceptance facilities such as post offices, libraries, and local government offices are hosting special passport acceptance fairs across the United States to help you and your family apply for your passport." More about them at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/passports/special-passport-acceptance-fairs.html.
This one doesn't require an appointment, but I'd still get there early. It doesn't make your passport free ($165 altogether) but does make obtaining one easier since there will be people to assist and walk you through it.
Hint. Try to park free at the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) parking lot. Technically you need to ride the railway to park there for free but if you act like you belong no one will notice. If that doesn't suit you, just park along the street near the station parking lot and use the tunnel to walk through the st
Our data. About us. Bought by our government. With tax money we gave them. How can I get a piece of this pie?
Yes, these companies they are buying from are getting rich off our tax money. Boycott Google? Not gonna happen. They just get your money indirectly.

Fort Brewery Releases New Lager

Fort Brewery and Hell's Half Acre Stadium Goods are partnering to brew Hell's Half Lager, which will raise NIL funds for Flying T Club.

This post isn't really about the beer but about The Fort's past. Does anyone remember? This place used to be over on Magnolia. Before the current (Fort) owners bought the place, it was Chimera. And before then, Zio Carlo. The old place is now a liquor store on the corner of Magnolia and College.
Give it some time. Everyone's life priorities will change and something like this won't be at the top of the list.
Source: Used to do the same crap.

Berry Theater is Now Gone
Demolished ASAP. As I predicted, no date set and one day it'd just go poof before any more uproar.
And just like that, uninstalled their app from my Android mobile device. It wasn't that great anyway.

Berry Theater is History
Saving it will cost too much even with grants and donations, so it will be razed. Date to be determined. And usually the date isn't announced to prevent more uproar. One day it'll simply be no more.

Today Marks the First Train in Fort Worth (July 19, 1876)
Today on this day, July 19, 1876, the first train entered Fort Worth. The small town could not wait for this to happen while rails were laid as fast as possible and a makeshift trestle was built over Sycamore Creek which today runs roughly between Beach St and Riverside Dr.
The arrival of the first train was a major event for Fort Worth. It marked the beginning of a new era for the city, and it helped to transform Fort Worth from a small frontier town into a major transportation hub.
In 1876, trains were seen as a symbol of progress and opportunity. They were a way to connect Fort Worth to the rest of the country, and they opened up new possibilities for trade and commerce. The railroad also played a major role in the development of the cattle industry, which was one of the city's most important economic sectors.
Fast forward to 2023, and the way that people view trains has changed dramatically. Today, trains are often seen as a nuisance and an obstacle to development. They can be n
No mention of Mosaic (first web browser)? What sucked was you generally had to compile it yourself. That meant installing all the build tooling, building it, and turning it loose. Oh. Windows? Lol. No go. Gotta get an early version of Linux up and running first. That usually meant 20+ diskettes of Slackware installation.
But then you could surf in all the basic HTTP glory. It was a new world and it was awesome.

I got flagged on my work computer for connecting to derp foo (probably for an image). To satisfy security, had to remove all chrome extensions and reset chrome.
So I don't use Lemmy on my work computer anymore. That's sad.

Govulncheck v1.0.0 is released!

Version v1.0.0 of golang.org/x/vuln has been released, introducing a new API and other improvements.

Govulncheck is a command-line tool that helps Go users find known vulnerabilities in their project dependencies. The tool can analyze both codebases and binaries, and it reduces noise by prioritizing vulnerabilities in functions that your code is actually calling.

- Hello World
- Read a file
- Write a file
- Read a file and loop through it line by line, printing each one (for loop or equivalent)
- Program that consists of 2 or more source files
What I'm getting at is instead of a full program, write code snippets and small programs. In doing this eventually an idea for something larger will pop into your head.
Same (Fira Code). And use it for my terminals as well.
Bummer. I truly enjoyed this movie.

Slackware. Fall of '93. Well over 20, 3.5" diskettes. Sacrificed my OS/2 machine to do this.

This isn't true in the least. Purchase a tool and look through the manual. Every section marked "danger", "warning", or "caution" was put in there because someone sued some company because the user or some bystander was hurt or injured.

Do not post, share, trade, or otherwise make public any ChatGPT output from your sessions until you fact verify that data to the extent that you're willing to take legal responsibility for it. In this case, especially causing a lawsuit against OpenAI. Because when that happens, you will foot the bill.
