  • The 32X was one of the things that killed Sega. Making add-ons or expansions for existing consoles has proven to be a failed business model.

Stating this unilaterally overlooks the PC Engine CD, which has more games than the base PC Engine.

  • Tankies have this weird dance where they have to keep up the normal US bad thing but also piss on people's legs about Trump being no worse or better than Biden because Trump continuing to be in power hurts Westerners.

I almost think Trump could get couped by Communists tomorrow and tankies would find a way to hate it.

  • Atari Lynx. Remarkably powerful handheld for coming out two months after the Game Boy, but no truly memorable games that aren't ports (which could be said about all of Atari's non-2600 consoles tbf.)

  • "Advertising is violence???"

Anyone who says these kind of statements should be forced to watch an hour of gore.

Nobody who isn't knee deep in circle jerking leftist communities thinks you're clever. You can argue against advertising without trivializing worse things.

  • When BAFTA's poll reached Lemmy, I did think a lot of you were overrating Doom (and I can't help but think it's because a lot of you were PC gamers when Doom came out.) It's definitely in the top ten, but not number 1 IMO. Tetris, Minecraft, Super Mario Bros, and Pong definitely belong above Doom IMO.

But Shenmue??? Maybe top twenty, but number 1???

  • crazy idea

  • I can't understand why people expect Lemmy to be less Reddit than Reddit. It's literally a platform for people who are so deep in Reddit that they've developed a hatred for Reddit becoming more normie friendly.

As someone who has some interests aligned with average Lemmy users but not enough to use it as my primary platform, Lemmy is inhabited by the stereotypical Redditor of ten years ago.
