  • For me it was elementary OS. Dual-booted with Windows back in 2015/2016. Maybe 1 year later, I installed Linux Mint Cinnamon and gradually used it more than Windows. Now I am using EndeavourOS XFCE and only using Windows virtually... when I am bored or need to use Adobe Lightroom Classic.

  • This is my to-go solution before sending photos to someone. Excellent service!

But I miss adding options in Docker, for an example default quality. I often clear cookies and other data so it's kinda tedious to select the same options over and over again :)

  • Yes, but iOS is even more closed than Android which makes all iPhones a small prison for open-minded and privacy oriented people.

Google is Big Tech, logs everything. Apple is Big Tech too, but only logs tiny less than Google. All Big Tech is a big no-no if you're privacy oriented. This applies to all services that uses Big Tech, too.

Here's my response to the -2 votes or whatever it is called. I bet it's because of the last sentence. If you surf a website with a browser with uBlock Origin and blocks Big Tech, that's good. But a lot of people visits websites and allows everything, feeding Big Tech with even more data than they already have. That was why I wrote it is a big no-no even services that uses Big Tech. Signal included.

  • Horrific read!

Yet another reason why I use F-Droid and RethinkDNS with "Block newly installed apps by default" in the universal firewall rules enabled.

Only the absolute neccessary apps that I can't live without (like my Swedish bank's app) will be installed from Play Store.

  • I have my own personal finance tracker, Keizai. I found mainly Firefly III as bloated and since I wanted a simple, straight-forward finance tracker, I created my own.

Please bare in mind that Keizai is not yet finished. The development is still on-going, but it's a slow process. I have multiple projects in hand and with autism and other plans for a better, more healthier life, the development for all my projects tend to be slow.

And yes, you can self-host Keizai.

  • XMPP. Oh, wait, company based.

    • Signal if you want phone number based signups.
    • SimpleX Chat if you want to experience full privacy.
    • Threema if you want basically the same as SimpleX Chat, but want to give them money first.

But XMPP would be the best option. Snikket is recommended for easy setup.

  • I use EndeavourOS Xfce because it's Arch with pacman and not Flathub or Snap. Plus, I love the simplicity and the performance boost you get with Xfce (even if it's a small boost with a modern gaming PC).

The sidepanel in Thunar v4.18.8 is complete rubbish!

No favourites and different heights of the objects. And if I expand airikr in the sidepanel, all folders in that folder will be listed. It's like the developers of Thunar wanted to make Thunar a clone of Windows Explorer or something. I hate it!

This happened few months ago after an update. On the laptop, I have version 4.18.7 and there's the sidepanel completely normal.

How do I fix this piece of garbage? By downgrading? How?

I've been using the default file manager for Linux Mint Cinnamon (as far as I remember it is), Nemo. It's okay, but I do miss Thunar for several reasons.

What is your favourite lofi music mix/mixes?

It's nearly impossible to have a favourite lofi music mix 😊 I have many favourites, but I really love the Japanese lofi music mixes, like the one below.
