  • Get his belly shaved.

Seriously. It's a thing people do for long-haired cats to help them cool off in the summer.

  • I use a Porlex hand mill. I gently tap to knock free any loose bits, then I don't worry about the rest.

I mostly use a French press for brewing. I know the fines aren't ideal for my brewing method, but they don't impact the flavor or texture in a way that bothers me.

  • I block every bot I see.

Bots discourage human participation. They may add content, but they don't cause discussion.

  • Is the BraX3 from braxtech.net a trustworthy investment?

  • If his primary credential is "YouTube content creator," that's probably a hard pass.

  • Sadly, they don't exist for the DSi XL.

    (I mod handhelds.)

Also, DSi shell replacements aren't for the faint of heart. Those ribbon cables are a pain in the ass and tear very easily.

  • Come to think of it, you can probably see the argument because your eyes aren't gouged out.

  • How many of your own eyes is it best to gouge out?

  • Plumbing warehouses must be the wealthiest businesses in the world.

  • It was a good business decision - because it meant consumers can't repair their devices, and therefore have to buy new ones.

    But it's terribly anti-consumer.

  • Yeah, Nintendo has long been anti-right to repair, as evidenced by its products.

It's infuriating, because the parts are cheap and easy to come by.

Until someone designs a "slab" shell that eliminates the hinge, we'll continue to see consoles like yours end up in the trash. :(

  • Oh, I know there's better butter out there. But I'm trying to keep my goals attainable.

  • Top screen?

It is absurdly difficult to work on 3DS series top screens. I repair handhelds, and I don't know anybody who voluntarily works on top screens.

The problem is the hinge. Even if you do everything right, those ribbon cables will tear on the hinge if you even look at them wrong. And the ribbon cables are permanently attached to the screens, so if you tear the cable you've ruined the whole screen.

Since you've tried the repair yourself, you know how difficult it is.

Sadly, you're unlikely to find anyone reputable to do the work.

  • He is not.

A tariff is a tax that increases the price of imported goods.

Tariffs are used to push people toward domestic alternatives to imported goods.

However, today, there are no domestic alternatives to most important goods.

So, all it's doing is increasing the burden on the average person.

Companies are not going to invest in domestic production. They are going to spend that money lobbying to have tarriffs removed. Because guess what? Once tariffs go away, consumer prices are not going to go back to what they used to be. Instead, megacorps are going to pocket the difference as profit.

  • Hostile takeover of the entire U.S. dairy industry under the guise of creating better conditions for dairy cattle.

True goal: start making butter that's as good as Kerrygold.

  • That does sound like potential bipolar disorder.

Either way, there are medications that should be able to help with your symptoms.

    Good luck!

  • It's not true that you can't be given a diagnosis.

It's good that you'll be speaking to a psychiatrist, because those could be signs of certain disorders. For example, you could have bipolar disorder.

  • Bold move, pairing cocaine with loaded potato skins.

  • Granted. But they only work when someone wishes for a cup of pudding.

Help making system wake up to keyboard

Hello! New to Bazzite, and have a system running great. There's just one thing I'm having trouble with: I want the system to wake up from a sleep state when it detects signal from a keyboard/mouse.

I tried following this guide: https://askubuntu.com/questions/848698/wake-up-from-suspend-using-usb-device

It seems straightforward enough, and even though that's Ubuntu, I saw buses were set to "disabled." So I tried writing the rc.local, but it still won't wake up, even though the devices have power.

Am I missing something? Or can anyone point me to a better reference? Thanks in advance.

Tried out my new soldering iron tonight.

Worked on a friend's AC power adapter, the cord had gotten cut. Just a simple two-wire cord, nothing too complicated.

Didn't do a perfect job with the heat shrink tubing, but still made good connections and it'll be safe to use.

Wish I had upgraded my soldering iron sooner. The old one didn't heat nearly as evenly as this one.

As I sat there, at my desk in my office, the sun slowly sank from high in the heavens; soon, nightfall would bathe the landscape in blue-black darkness, smothering the world outside my window.

I sat there for a long while before the crying began, resonating up from beneath the creaky floorboards - and I smiled, a toothy grin slowly spreading across my face... because I knew my work was only just beginning.

    Work-in-progress DSi "GB Macro"

Had nearly all the parts lying around, so I put this thing together.

I wanted to add stereo speakers, but it's hard to find good wiring diagrams for such a niche thing. So, mono for now.

The motherboard has a bad cartridge slot. So I designed and printed a custom speaker holder that fits into the cartridge slot. All pressure fitted, no glue.

Everything works so far. Just waiting for a new shoulder button/SD slot cable, so I can finish it up and load up some GBA games. :)

LXLE still good for older devices?

A few years ago, LXLE was my distro of choice for older hardware.

I haven't used it in a while, and now I'm trying to revive an HP Stream (AMD/4GB RAM/32GB SSD).

Anything else I might want to try first, or is LXLE still considered good for lightweight/feature rich?
