  • I know the markdown code, but it don't work for me, nor to upload the image from the menu. Seams that Lemmy don't accept well images hosted by vgy for some reasons, only works occasionally.

  • Magnets

  • There are a lot of strange flowers out there

My favorite, flowers of the Snapdragon seed, when the flowers dry, they turned in this aspect. Nice gift for your mother-in-law

  • Sorry, I misunderstand it. But in this case it's better to ask in the Forum, there are users with way better knowledge as mine, even members of the dev team.

  • it means exactly this, the server hasn't any knowledge about your uploaded files or encrytion key. It's very save, but not really P2P, because of an server in the middle where the files are stored until download. Real P2P is eg, Croc, which transfer files direct from one PC to the other, without any server in the middle, you send an link which pointed direct to the files in your PC. The advantage is that you have anytime full control over the files and with this no limits on filesizes, but maybe a drawback is, that downloads are only possible, when your PC is online, on the other hand, this permits also to interrupt downloads, simply going offline, (it's FOSS)

  • From Switzerland, Sharrr, OpenSource, encrypted EE2E, no knowledge, 10GB/file, one time download. From the same author, https://scrt.link/, for share autodestructive encrypted notes.

  • Also nice GeoGebra, OpenSource from Austria (EU), online, Android, iPhone

Not FOSS but great, OmniCalculator from Poland (EU), online, free, a collection of 3718 calculators for every task.

  • Workout

  • Wrong, don't use Reddit

    (Towerdata use even keylogging)

    Reddit = Data broker

  • No, worse is not the amount, but where they are sent these telemetrias. A browser with a lot of features may have also a lot of tech telemetries related to these features to ensure a smooth operation. This is not the same as sending browserdata to third parties, like Facebook, Google, Amazon, etc. which has nothing to do with the browserfeatures but with logging and selling userdata. Even worse if you use above an search engine which logs your activity, like Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc.

  • Polonium enter in a bar, and the barkeeper can't say nothing anymore.

  • He don't react to childish voices.

  • Important only which requests go out and to where. If tech data go to the company of the browser, it's OK, but not if user data goes to Amazon, Alphabet, Facebook, Towerdata, etc., which has nothing to do with the functionality of the browser. Permissions can be restricted in the settings of the OS.

  • Not so important how much telemetries, but where these go. A complex feature rich browser can have a lot of tech telemetries, but this is only bad if these go to sites not related to the functionality and third parties, eg. to Facebook, Amazon and others.

    Hacker hacked hackers

    Andi's Writeup

The Everest ransomware gang's dark web leak site was hacked and defaced on April 7, 2025, with attackers replacing the content with the message "Don't do crime CRIME IS BAD xoxo from Prague"[1]. The site subsequently went offline and displayed an "Onion site not found" error[1].

Flare Senior Threat Intelligence Researcher Tammy Harper suggested the breach likely exploited vulnerabilities in the site's WordPress template[1]. The attack disrupted Everest's operations, which had evolved since 2020 from data theft extortion to include ransomware deployment and selling network access to other cybercriminals[2].

Prior to the breach, Everest had claimed over 230 victims on its leak site, including recent attacks on cannabis retailer STIIIZY and increased targeting of U.S. healthcare organizations in 2024[1][3]. The group operated as both a ransomware outfit and initial access broker, selling compromised network access to other threat act

Proton batteries shape the next energy storage

    Andi's Writeup

Proton batteries are emerging as a promising alternative to lithium-ion batteries for energy storage, offering several key advantages. Recent research from UNSW Sydney has demonstrated a breakthrough in proton battery technology using a novel organic material called tetraamino-benzoquinone (TABQ)[^6].

The technology works by storing protons (hydrogen ions) rather than lithium ions, leveraging their unique properties as the smallest and lightest ions of any element[7]. The UNSW prototype achieved 3,500 charging cycles while performing well even in sub-zero temperatures[6].

Key benefits of proton batteries include:

    • Fast charging capabilities
    • Zero carbon emissions
    • Lower environmental impact
    • Enhanced safety due to water-based electrolytes
    • Potential lower costs due to abundant materials
    • High energy and power density

The primary challenges currently facing proton battery development include:

    • High production costs for electrode materials
    • Limited voltag
